The XO nodded in acknowlegment at Barr’s arrival, however his attention was focused on the scan results. Eric was running through different scenarios in his head for the colony situation and what would be needed in rescuing them, but they needed information before they could proceed…

-Cmdr. Eric Holmman, XO

The cadet that was running the sensor sweep hesitated over the results they saw before looking back at the XO. “I’m not picking up energy signatures of any type Commander. At least not anything that can be identified as a power source. Life signs are proving difficult to pin down. There are a concentration of life signs within a fifty kilometer radius of the colony site but I’m unable to identify where exactly or what type.”

“I assume a transporter lock is improbable, then,” Emmy stated, not even attempting to make it a question. She eyed her XO for a moment and then asked, “shuttle or transporter?” It seemed that this evacuation was not going to be easy; they were going to have to go down to retrieve the colonists.

=^= Stadi to Bridge, we’ve analyzed the damage to the colonies structures. The two most likely scenarios are that the base’s main power source exploded, or a ship opened fire on the colony, in that order. Working right now to see if there’s any interference we’ll need to work through from the damage for evacuation procedures.=^=

-Lt jg Dael Stadi, CE (cross post)

“Have we been able to locate the comm satellite yet? There wasn’t much in the comm messages transmitted back to HQ, but we were wondering if there was anything still in the buffer.”

Assuming the answer, Alison looked through the scan data to see if she could locate the comm satellite.

Emmy had been about to answer the CSO’s question, but her behavior and focus on the terminal in front her led her to believe that she was answering her own question as they spoke. Digesting the CE’s report as well, Emmy addressed the Bridge, not sure if Barr would want to interrupt her review to handle the order or if another one of the bridge crew would take it on, “re-scan for any residual warp signatures.”

=/\= Understood, Lieutenant. Our ability to get a transporter lock seems to be shaky. Please be prepared with enhancers in the event that we need to go down to the surface to begin the evacuation. =/\=

  • Davis, CO

After listening in, Eric spoke up. “If there’s nothing interfering with our transporters, then I would suggest transporters over a shuttle, Captain. We will still need the transporters in any event if we still have to do a large-scale evacuation from the surface. “

Cmdr. Eric Holmman, XO

The cadet that had been doing the scan to this point did another in-depth check for warp signatures. “Captain… I’m picking up a very degraded warp signature. Can’t tell what type of vessel made it, but the computer estimates based on the degradation that it’s two months or maybe a little older.”

GM Madness

Looking up Alison gave the XO a funny look. Did she actually hear him talk about transporting a shuttle? Because that would be a crazy idea. Why wouldn’t they just fly the shuttle in instead?

Shaking her head, Alison went back to her review of the scan data, trying to locate that elusive comm satellite. Hopefully it would give them some good information, maybe even something that hadn’t been sent on to HQ yet.
