Out of Character (OOC): Please feel free to join in, but I particularly need our two medical cadets to show up. ;)

In Character (IC):

It felt like it had only been moments after they had embarked on their next mission, but Emmy had promptly gotten notification from Starfleet Academy that there were two more graduates to celebrate. The pomp and circumstance was certainly getting old to her and, with her XO and her Counselor called away from the ship for the time being, it would just be her job to manage the situation. With that in mind, she went with the easiest option, which was a small celebration on the ship’s lounge.

  • Davis, CO

(OOC: I’m assuming Miya wouldn’t know why the celebration was being held - please correct me if I’m wrong!)

It was pleasant to have free time, Miya thought, and something to do with it. She felt like she hadn’t spent much time recently in the ship’s lounge - hardly surprising, given their last mission - and she was looking forward to enjoying some relaxing hours in good company. Entering the lounge, she headed for the long bar and perched on one of the stools, ordering a Bajoran ale from the server. While she waited for her drink to arrive, she glanced around, looking for anyone she knew.

[Cadet Ven Miya, doctor]

OOC: Hmm, she might know that she’s coming up on graduation?

IC:

As the remaining Challenger crew filtered in, Emmy moved to the front of the room and cleared her throat to get the attention of the crew members that had made their way into it.

“Cadet Ven Miya, please come forward.”

  • Davis, CO
Waiting in the lounge, Aaron was standing next to the Captain. Watching at Miya, he made a thumb up to her with a smile, trying to comfort her.

Aaron knew why the captain has called them, and he was a bit nervous about it. Even though he was happy to conclude his Academy journey and begin his career at Starfleet, he felt a bit disappointed. Even if it was short, Aaron gets used to the Challenger, and he is going to miss it. This graduation was a turning point in his life, and he felt a bit excited and nervous about it.

Hearing her name called - by the Captain, of all people! - Miya spun around, feeling unaccountably guilty. She caught Aaron’s grin and thumbs-up sign, then the significance of the moment hit her. Prophets, how could you be so stupid?! You’ve been here several months. It’s your graduation, you lackwit!

She hopped down from the stool and walked towards the captain, trying not to smile too broadly. Definitely, she would miss the Challenger and the friends she’d made here, but graduation was a pivotal moment and she was eager to see what the future held. Miya stopped in front of the captain and offered a smart salute.

“Cadet Ven Miya reporting, sir!”

[Cadet Ven Miya, doctor]

Emmy quickly returned the salute, although she still managed to make it crisp despite the speed.

“Cadet, I have been notified by Starfleet Academy and Starfleet Command that you are hereby graduated from Starfleet Academy. Due to your exemplary performance, you are hereby promoted to the acting rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade and you have been appointed as Chief Medical Officer of the USS Challenger. Congratulations!”

She extended her hand to the newly promoted officer. The small velvet box inside of it was opened to show the gleaming new pips.

  • Davis, CO

“Congratulations Lieutenant!” Dael clapped after setting down his drink. The time cadets spent onboard always felt too short for him, right as he got a team of engineers working the way he liked they got shipped to the fleet. But this, this was one of the definite perks of being among the senior staff on an Academy ship. Despite his usual nature of staying away from gatherings in favor of some repairs, he did hate seeing them go and not just because he had to train a new round of cadets after. Watching the cadets flourish and go off to succeed in the fleet was a definite plus. Not to mention seeing them excel to become senior staff on the Challenger themselves. They had all earned their pips and he had to admit he was happy to be there to see it.

-Lt. jg Dael Stadi, CE

“Congrats, Miya! You deserve it!”, said Aaron, clapping in his hand. Looking at the pips given by the Captain, Aaron felt quite impressed about it. Directly promoted to Lieutenant Junior, he thought. And at the head of the CMO !

The young doctor looked around the ship, thinking of the time he spends aboard the ship. It was quite a pleasant experience. I hope I could get back here after graduation. He could remember his arrival aboard the Challenger, the Tribble incident, the hot tubes graduation…

But it doesn’t end here, he thought with a smile, looking at the crew present in the Lounge.
