OOC: Well, to be fair, chronologically speaking, we went in technically not knowing the artificial grav was actually off until after Hobbes’ writer told us in the past (according to the RP), but by that point, we had already been writing our activities in the cargo bay.

IC:

Javal raised an eyebrow at the testy security officer in magboots while he floated above him.

“I suppose it was an oversight for us to not prepare sufficiently for the anti-gravity environment, Ensign. Would you be able to prepare a couple more for myself and Mr. Kleine?”

While the sight of the man with the proper equipment might have been embarrassing to any ordinary cadet, Javal was only fazed in the illogic of not paying closer attention to Cadet Hobbes’ warning before they entered.

OOC: Happens to the best of us! Don’t sweat it.

IC: The NE motioned towards the panel labeled “Emergency” before walking over and opening it. Inside was the standard space suits and mag boots that are used when doing space walks or entering environments that require such things. With a daft motion he pulled out one of the duffle bags and gently pushed it up towards Javal. “Catch, though I would recommend, ya know, pushing off against something to get yourself closer to the ground before you turn the boots on. Don’t want to get pulled down like, 10 meters.” He chuckled slightly before turning his attention to the engineers suspended in their own little cells. Most of them had calmed down but were still sweating profusely, occasionally shivering from fever. A few had vomited in their “cell” and at least one was still trying her best to get out by ramming herself repeatedly against the force field, oblivious to the pain.

Javal attempted to re-orient his body in space as best he could so that he could reach out and grab the duffle bag that the NE threw - well more like floated - at him.

Grabbing the bag in his hands just as he turned over, Javal took a hand and undid the zipper.

“It appears I have successfully reacquainted my body to the effects of zero-gravity,” he said, with perhaps the slightest sliver of confidence entering into his voice.

Heeding the NE’s advice, he made for the wall of the cargo bay. Propping himself in a crouching position, he pushed off the surface with the power of his quads, which resulted in the propulsion of the Vulcan in the trajectory of the floor. Or perhaps it was the ceiling?

As he neared his target, Javal, who had already slipped on the magboots before making the maneuver, reached down toward his ankles and hit the power button quickly before bringing his legs back out again to make contact with the surface.

Observing that his feet were still secured in place to the floor, Javal looked up to notice that Jordy was still floating about above him.

‘Javal you have a pair for me to?’ Jordy asked still floating around.

“Negative, but I should be in a stable enough position now to grab one myself,” he replied, eager to test out the weight of the magboots on his standard gait.

Noting the increased effort that he had to put in to walking, Javal proceeded to move at a decidedly slower pace that he was normally used to speed-walking about in. Thankfully, this was not a severe enough impediment to him making it to the emergency locker and tossing out another duffle bag containing a pair of magboots in Jordy’s direction.

With the need of his compatriot seen to, Javal took a moment to gaze up at the sick crewmen and noted their bizarre behavior - including the one crewman insisting on smacking himself into a forcefield repeatedly.

“Curious…” Javal muttered to himself. Were the fever-like symptoms these crewmen seemed to be displayed leading to their sudden irrationality? And what was the cause of said fever? He’d need to get closer to find out.

Prepping a tricorder, he proceeded in the direction of the closest fever-ridden crewman, careful to not approach too close before Jordy could get his bearings and assist him in case the crewman got aggressive.

OOC: Let me know if I snipped too much out of this thread! I’m still trying to figure out how much is “enough” :)
