The Bajoran led the way to one of the biobeds. “Lie down there, please, and relax. This shouldn’t take too long.”

(OOC: I’ve seen the list of previous injuries in Jethro’s bio - wow! Miya will definitely pick up on this when the scan results come back. Is there anything more recent that the scan may show? Any illnesses, allergies … anything that may have made him sleep in, perhaps? Just let me know in an OOC when you reply and I’ll work it into my response. :D )

[Lieutenant JG Ven Miya, CMO]

“Of course Doctor.”

Jethro held his breath for a quick second to quickly reregulate his breathing and get it back to normal. Once his breathing was back to normal, he headed over the biobed and hoped on it. He gave quick smile be fore laid down on it, stretching out a bit. He had been on so many biobeds and in sickbay so often in his life, the beds had become quite comfortable to him.

“So Doc, where you born on Bajor or off planet?”

(OOC: I was thinking maybe some severe sleep deprivation b/c he is a work-acholic and can be a little obsessive.)

Miya glanced up from her PADD, raising her eyebrows with a smile. She was always interested in how cadets reacted during these routine examinations: some would just lie there, leaving Miya to keep the conversation flowing, while others were more forthcoming. Clearly Avant was one of the latter. She did prefer to chat with the cadets during the medical check-ins as they were adjusting to life aboard a starship and a friendly conversation could open up different avenues of support for them.

You need to follow up Lieutenant Commander Miller’s offer about helping the counselling team! she told herself sternly, but shelved the thought to reply to the cadet.

“I was born on-planet, just after the end of the Cardassian occupation. Spent most of my life there, too, barring one short trip with my fellow prylars to the space station Deep Space Nine - it’s the gateway to the Celestial Temple, so it was an incredible honour to visit it.” Nodding towards the PADD, she added, “I see from your records that you’ve travelled much more widely than I! Where do you think you’re happier - planetside or shipboard?” He’d clearly lived in a wide variety of locations while she’d intended to spend her life ministering to her fellow Bajorans - until the Prophets had intervened, of course.

(OOC: thanks for the info about the sleeping! I’ll probably bring it up in my next post - I’ll give you the chance to reply to this first.)

[Lieutenant JG Ven Miya, CMO]

“Oh, I was born on a starship, the U.S.S. Lovelace. My mom was the First Officer for the ship. I love visiting other planets. Spent most of my life doing it,” He let out a healthy chuckle. “I did have to spend eight consecutive years on Earth though, first for the Daystrom Institute and then of course for the Academy.”

Jethro let out a healthy chuckle.

“When I tell you I’ve never felt more trapped on something so big.” Avant shook his head amusingly as he settled back down. “I really do prefer to live on ship rather then planet-side, but sometimes that is not possible.”

“I’ve visited Bajor, beautiful planet.” Jethro turned his head to look directly at the doc.

“When I go stabbed…,” Jethro’s hands patted his body thoughtfully as he tried to remember where he had gotten stabbed. Avant’s shifted through all the memories of his past wounds in his head. He was about to settled for the right side of his stomach but quickly shifted over to the left. “…in the stomach by a Breen while in the Alpha Quadrant for my Dad’s research, he made take a month or two recovering on Bajor. Even though the physical recovery had fully completed a few hours after surgery.” Erik shrugged his shoulder’s as he enjoyed the comfort of the biobed. “I got to visit so many places, tried so many foods. I even got the chance to take a trip through the Wormhole! Which for a scientist in my field of work, is just the ultimate goal. I had tagged along with a group civilian scientist who were doing some mapping of a star system on the other side.”

He took a breather from speaking so fast as he smiled remembering the good memories that came from his forced vacation.

“I took the chance to learn everything I could about your culture. I can’t just sit around doing nothing. So I read, watched some holohistories at the holodecks on Deep Space 9, even learned how to play spring ball. You know I am surprised I did not get an injury from that game.”

(OOC: So sorry for late reply! Thought I had replied already.)
