=^= Thank you, Cadet. As we discover more information, I’ll pass it on to you as quickly as possible. Remember you can transport a patient to sickbay if they need emergency medical support - or safe restraining; both our patients became aggressive over time. Your safety is equally important, remember. Ven out. =^=

[Lieutenant JG Ven Miya, CMO - cross-post]

‘If the virus does spread it also has spreaded in engineering and in there we had the the chief engineer and chief of security there, then we have a problem because if we need to go in quarantine then we have not much security left.’ Jordy says worried to Javal.

Cadet Jordy Kleine - Security

Javal nodded in recognition of Jordy’s valid concerns.

“Indeed, the chief of security and chief engineer are both at potential risk at spreading the virus. I trust that the CMO has already notified the Captain of our findings and has recommended further quarantine measures until the method of transmission has been discerned. Additionally, the Challenger should still be able to call on emergency forcefields and other lockdown procedures to mitigate the movement of infected personnel as well, which should assist our decreased number of active security officers in controlling the spread.”

After addressing Jordy’s concerns however he could, Javal readied his tricorder and aimed it at Jordy.

“…and to aid in the discernment of the route of transmission, I will need to request your permission to take a diagnostic scan as well. Since we have all been exposed to the virus, I want to evaluate if an immune response has already been initiated in us, or if any viral particles happen to have recently infiltrated our mucosa.”

OOC: Is the scan able to detect anything abnormal in Jordy?

[Cadet Javal - doctor]

‘You have permission for a scan.’ Jordy says.

Cadet Jordy Kleine - Security

Javal’s scan of Jordy came back normal. There was no sign of the virus in the cadets blood or about his body. Whatever the contagion was, it hadn’t spread to those two yet.

GM Wombat

Javal glanced down at his tricorder as the results of the scan began to trickle in. So far, everything looked promising.

“It seems that the virus has not produced any detectable response by our immune systems as of yet, nor do I detect any traces of viral material that is similar in nature to the example I just scanned,” he said to Jordy as he flipped his tricorder back off again.

Placing a hand to his chin, he began to ponder what this might possibly mean for them.

“Given that you and I have had a fairly significant amount of exposure to the virus every since we entered Main Engineering, it is becoming more likely that the virus may not be transmitted through infectious aerosols. However, I cannot discount a number of other possible methods of transmission - contact with infected body fluids, contact with food handled by infected individuals, or the consumption of contaminated food are three of the most probable pathways considering our current circumstances…”

With his theorizing out of the way, Javal tapped at his commbadge to relay his findings to the CMO once more.

=^= “Javal to Dr. Ven. I have conducted a diagnostic scan of the cargo bay response team, and it appears that as of right now, I have detected no evidence of an immune response or any viral antigens that are similar in character to the ones I have sampled from the infected individuals here. Considering that the response team has been in near constant exposure to the infected individuals since our arrival in Main Engineering, I am inclined to rule out airborne transmission as a route of infection, however I will be continually monitoring the state our team for any new changes.” =^=

Since some time had passed since first sending out his data on the virus found in the cargo bay, Javal wondered if there were any developments on Miya’s end.

=^= “Has there been any notable updates as to our understanding of the virus’s origin, or as to the condition of the infected crew currently in Sickbay?” =^=

[Cadet Javal - doctor]

‘Alright’ Jordy replies

Jordy gets a little closer to the infected crewmen and starts to inspect them with his eyes. ‘What is going on with you all?’ He whispers.

Cadet Jordy Kleine - Security

=^= Stand by, Cadet - I’m getting some results through now. I’ll get back to you as soon as I’ve received them all and reported to the Captain. Ven out. =^=

[Lieutenant JG Ven Miya, CMO - cross-post]

As the research continued, some of the patients began to pass out from their fevers or throw up as their condition worsened. All were becoming increasingly agitated as they floated around in their cells.

GM Wombat

Jordy sees a few of the patients pass out and says to Javal. ‘Javal some of them are passing out i think they need help.’

Cadet Jordy Kleine - Security

Javal noted the sudden change in the engineers’ condition. Could it be that their immune systems are hyper activated in response to the virus?

He looked over at Jordy and the team. “These crewmen need fluids and must be transported to sickbay - now.”

As he handed out his order, his combadge came alive once more.

=^= Ven to Javal. We’ve made some progress with the tests; now we’re trying to identify a treatment. In the meantime, do not share any food or water bottles with other crew members - that’s a probable source of cross-contamination. How are your patients - is there any change in their condition? =^=

=^= “Javal to Dr. Ven. Understood. There has been a notable deterioration of the affected crewmens’ symptoms, including emesis and syncope. They require immediate attention in sickbay. We are preparing them for transport as I speak.” =^=

OOC: I incorporated Claire’s most recent cross-post into my newest post here. Let me know if it needs to be changed!
