When everyone was clear from around Morton, he turned on the machine and enters different frequencies, which the machine launched in subtle pulses at Morton. As the emitter was going through all possible frequencies, the machine sometimes produced light, sometimes sound, but most of the time the process wasn’t visible. The Lieutenant continues until something happened.

(OOC : There was a split post, so I fixed it while adapting it to the new timeline.)

Lieutenant JG Aaron Williams - CSO

Baptiste stepped back as ordered and was ready to rush in and assist Ensign Morton, should the attempt to free him succeed.

  • Cadet Johnathan Baptiste, medical

As the emitter flashed Pilar took time to show gratitude to Baptiste. “I appreciate what you did there, with Clean. I know he was correct, but it was just the way he approached me. Everyone needs to understand I am not here to be in the way, only here to help.” She squinted her eyes at him and said, “Also do not assume any officer on this ship does not know how to operate a tricorder. It is the most basic of tools you learn to use in the Academy and I, therefore, took offense in you asking me if I was “familiar” with it.”

Halcyone, Counselor

Cadet Baptiste smiled and replied back to the Lieutenant Commander “See I got your goat there so to speak Commander. I know fully well you are more than capable of handling a medical tricorder, you are after all a counselor. I was trying to ease the tension and get NE Clean out of our collective hairs. I do have one small suggestion if I may, ease off the hostilities, not everyone is out to offend you, in fact the majority of the species you meet on board are trying to make it through our cadet cruise without screwing up, damaging something, or killing someone. I myself know I am in that category. By the way my name is Cadet Johnathan Baptiste, freshly minted M.D.”

  • Cadet Johnathan Baptiste, medical

“As you should be. That is your goal, to ensure the safety of everyone on this ship. Your clarification is noted, just be sure to choose your wording more carefully next time. Your words implied that I was unfamiliar with a tricorder. You may as well asked if I knew what it was. Also, your assessment of me is inaccurate but I will not fault you for it because first, you do not have all the information you need on me to make an assessment about how I feel, and second, you are a medical doctor, and it is not your job to assess my attitude or mental state. “

Again. I am very grateful for how you intervened Mr. Clean, Dr. Baptiste. You may call me Pilar and never refer to me as “ma’am” as Mr. Clean did. There are no “ma’ams” on this ship only “sirs”. All officers are addressed as “sir” regardless of gender. Ensign’s objective was to clearly offend me.” She glared across the room at the Ensign as she imagined him being sucked out of the ship, through a hatch into the darkness of space, and his head exploding.

Halcyone, Counselor

“Duly noted, Sir.” And with that Cadet Baptiste stepped away from the counselor. Mon quel cas difficile. Je vais l’éviter autant que je peux. Certainement pas de thérapie cognitive pour la prise en charge de la maladie de Ménière avec celle-là. he thought in French. He looked over at Ensign Morton to see if Lieutenant Williams experiment to free him was having any success, as he did so he saw Cadet Dawes was back and reporting to Lieutenant Williams.

After testing a sample from the bottle thought to contain similar liquid as to what caused Ensign Morton’s predicament, P’Mala Dawes walked into the cargo bay with renewed focus. Lt. Williams was working on some machine, and there seemed to be work ongoing everywhere–but she had news from the lab.

She sidled up to where the CSO was working, the machine occasionally flashing and booping. “Lieutenant, we have some news from the lab. When we tried to open and test the liquid in level 10 containment, it produced a similar phenomenon: same sweet rotting smell, same tetryon particles. NE Stevens is still at work but thought this would be useful information.”

-Cadet P’Mala Dawes

The counselor craned her neck to see what was happening. Poor Morton! She didn’t know how much more he could take. A doctor approached the CSO, the same one who had completed her own medical evaluation. She sighed in relief because it looked like she came with some potentially promising news. Pilar moved closer so she could hear the news Dawes was sharing with the CSO.

Halcyone, Counselor

The scan on Morton showed his heart rate and blood pressure were rising and falling with no obvious pattern and it was likely being stuck in a the spec-time distortion was affecting his circulation: hence the dizziness. His heart was not doing so great.

As the emitters tossed EM frequencies at the pocket universe, it had little reaction. However, as they monitored the results, they were still gathering data and it would seem that they could hone in on the fact that the pocket universe was negatively shifted 0.012 percent.
That’s just a small shift from our universe, thought Aaron while looking at the reading. If they want to pull him out, they’ll have to deal with this negative shift first.

Meanwhile, the experiment seemed to have captured Cadet Hedley’s attention and she seemed calmer. Still feeling terribly guilty, but her mind was now focused on the problem rather than her accidentally contributing to it. “He’s being phased out of out universe into the pocket universe,” Brin said softly. “Which means we can phase him back in!”

~Mischief Maker

Pilar’s eyes lit up, she looked at Cadet Hedley, put both hands on her shoulders then said, “You are brilliant!” Then she waved one hand to get Lieutenant Williams’ attention as she called out to him, “Lieutenant, Lieutenant! I think Hedley has found a solution!”

Halcyone
Aaron turned back to Pilar as he heard her call: “I’m open to every suggestion ! What is your plan ?”

Lieutenant JG Aaron Williams - CSO

“Excuse me,” P’Mala interrupted. “But what if we were to use a phase inducer from one of the teleporters and adjust it to the pocket dimension’s frequency? We might be able to phase Morton into the buffers, readjust to our own frequency, and phase him back out again. But I admit, I’m a doctor, not a physicist.”

-Cadet P’Mala Dawes
Aaron stopped for a second and try to process what P’Mala just said. It was risky because they were a chance they split him for good, but since they didn’t have another plan… “Ok, we’ll do your plan ! But fast, we must stop the radiation from spreading or else -“

He was cut as the light blinked for a few seconds and see their intensity cut down to half. Then the computer voice could be heard : Warning, antimatter pod ejecting. The situation couldn’t be worse on the ship. The Lieutenant pressed his combadge under his hazmat suit and says : =^= Lieutenant Williams to the Bridge, we might have a solution, and we’ll need the transporters for that. Are they still functional ? =^=

Lieutenant JG Aaron Williams - CSO

Cadet Baptiste heard the computer voice announcing the ejection of the antimatter pods. Well this is going to make things more interesting he thought. He knew that the lose of the antimatter pods would cause fluctuations in the power, and with it there would come the usual bumps and bruises as crewmembers began to adjust to the lose of power and the switch to emergency sources. He sighed and thought Well I was told that being in Starfleet would not be boring. He perked up when he heard Lieutenant Williams say they may have a solution to Ensign Morton’s situation.

-Cadet Johnathan Baptiste, medical

=^= Bridge to Lt Williams. We’ve had a slight change in plans. What is your plan? =^=
