As they moved through the ship, the bottle was secure in their care, though it remained a question about what happened to the contents if they were to open it. According to accounts, nothing happened until the contents hit the air.

~Mischief Maker
NE Stevens walked into the lab along with P’Mala and put the sampler on a table, and thought an orifice build into the cylinder, he started to extract some of the liquid into sealed test tubes.

P’Mala Dawes followed behind, still a little foggy from hitting her head in the cargo bay. Outside the space, things seemed perfectly normal, which helped somewhat. But she couldn’t get over the sight of Ensign Morton or stop thinking about how dumbstruck Brin Hadley was after the whole situation.

“It sure was a strange day, says Stevens with a smile. I know it sounds selfish, but I’m glad it wasn’t me who had a dimensional split on my body.”

“You’re telling me!” P’Mala said. “It could have easily been me in that cargo bay, any of us who were near that bottle.”

She wanted to change the subject from that damn truth or dare game. “So, what kind of tests are we running? How can I help?”

He proceeds to give a few test tubes to P’Mala, enough to run some tests on it. “I’m gonna do a spectrometry on this, just to identify his components. While I’m at it, I think we have some artificial skin samples if you want to run some tests.”

NE Stevens

“Sure thing,” she said, handling the test tubes carefully and placing them onto a test tube rack. She moved to an empty worktable and set a skin sample into a Petri dish and began to set up the experiment.

A test tube holder would hold the test tube and a robotic arm would open it. Then, using her PADD, P’Mala would tilt a drop of the liquid onto the sample in its dish.

=^=”Computer, please erect a level 3 containment field around this experiment?”=^= P’Mala said.

“How does this look, Stevens,” she asked. “Would you or another Scienxe NE like to do the honors?”

(OOC: Does this setup make sense, yall? I’m not super sciency!)

OCC: Sounds very reasonable, I would however make it a force 10 containment field given how this substance has reacted so far.
- Chris Huskins

OOC: Set-up works for me, though a couple liberties were taken with how the liquid was extracted, I can work with it and I’ll assume the bottle was closed up again right away. I’m trying to not destroy the ship. CO’s hate that! And I’ll assume a level-10 forcefield. You might need it. ;)
IC:

=^=”Computer, let’s make that a Level 10 containment field,”=^= P’Mala said, thinking of Morton in the cargo bay. She grimaced. =^=Begin recording data and engage the experiment.”=^=

They didn’t have time to get any readings, before the extracted sample blew up! But luckily there had been a small delay enough to get the forcefield up.

They might not have gotten much readings initially, but the small amount of the iridescent goo had created a itty bitty pocket universe, just like the one Morton was stuck in. But this one measured only 3 centimetres by 3 centimetres. It was casting off tetryon radiation too, though it was such a small amount and within the containment field that it posed little risk. At least the field also contained that weird smell of rotting strawberries.

But the brief readings the scanners was able to get showed the good had metallic properties that seemed to bend space-time. The goo itself was hard to classify but it did contain elements one might find in a planetary nebula.

P’Mala had shielded her face with her hands instinctively but other than the muffled sound of the implosion, she sensed she was not in harm’s way.

When she opened her eyes, she saw the tiny whatever it was and recognized the smell of rotten strawberries. She accessed her PADD and scanned the brief discoveries: tell-tale tetryon radiation, organic elements of some sort.

“Stevens,” she said. “I think we’ve definitely found something here.”

-Cadet P’Mala Dawes
Putting down his own experiment, NE Stevens approached the cadet : “I hope you have better luck because so far, I didn’t find anyth- Yikes ! What’s with the smell ?” He then looked at the readings : “Tetryon particles? Well, at least we know why Morton is split. Now we have to find a way to send him back. I think you can already share this discovery with the others, I think it might help them. Just a hunch.”

NE Stevens

“Yes, sir. If anything comes up in your experiments, I’m only a communicator away,” P’Mala said. “Especially if you can find a way to… extract him somehow.”

Still a bit out of it, P’Mala half-bowed awkwardly and left for the cargo bay.

OOC: Happy to give more information if you have some specific things you want to look in to. ~Linds
NE Stevens was continuing the experiments for a moment now, but he couldn’t find a way to deal with the altered sample. Man, what was in this bottle ? He was struggling to make it back to his original state and it surely was frustrating.

One thing that Stevens would begin to conclude after a few mishaps behind the forcefield though was that the goo reacted to nitrogen and that was what triggered the explosive force that allowed the pocket universes to form. Caution would have to be used going forwward.

After a moment, a message came from his combadge : =^= Williams to NE Stevens, drop the experiments we have a plan. Go to the transport room, the others will brief you. Contact me when you’re ready =^=

Stevens frowned when hearing he had a plan. What do they have in mind ? thought the Ensign. He quickly pressed on his combadge : =^= On my way =^=
He then left the lab, running through the corridors until he reached the transporter room.
