Side Sim: Crew Quarters - P'Mala is P'nsive (open)

Posted July 2, 2022, 9 p.m. by Cadet P'Mala Dawes (Doctor) (Shaun Tee)

After months on the Challenger, P’Mala woke up in her quarters one morning and rubbed her eyes. It was an off-duty day, and she for once she hadn’t signed up for any additional duties or made any plans–the whole day stretched out in front of her–and she felt restless.

Now that her time on the Academy ship was drawing to a close, she was a little concerned about what her next steps would be. Sure, she was a competent ER doctor, but was that all there would be for her?

She wanted to study unknown species–to talk with them–and learn from them. Was she more of a scientist than a doctor, more of a anthropologist with a good knowledge of physiology? She tossed and turned in her bed.

P’Mala’s quarters were plain–undecorated except for her meditation lamp and rug in the area she used to meditate and a miniature bonsai Ic’tan tree she’d carried with her for years and years. She didn’t see the point of going full-out when her time here was relatively short.

But she got out of bed and changed into an easy maxi dress, its navy blue complimenting the green of her skin. She took her meditation to the mat–crossed her legs, and attempted to focus her mental energy into one of the many exhibits in the museum of her mind.

In meditation, she’d built this mental space brick by brick. She knew its wide Vulcan columns and she curated this museum for years and years. An entire wing was “Worries About the Future” and she spent a few minutes peering through it, filing her immediate woes where they belonged–and then she heard a buzz at her door.
