Then an alert sounded causing the doctor to grown.

“Commander…” Rice cautioned.

“It’s… fine, just some tetryon particle leakage. It can happen but…”

But??” the stations XO said, sipping past the cadets and joining the researcher at the console. Her eyes widened a moment before the entire lab went into lockdown.

Containment failure. Risk of radiation exposure imminent.

“Shut it down!” Commander Rice ordered.

Green was aghast. “I… I can’t. The fail-safe program isn’t responding…”

“Well do something!”

“I’m not an engineer!” Greene said, fighting to stay composed as he cycled through different options.

Kylie quickly steps up to the console and looks at it her face twisted in deeper concern and thought. “I would suggest, first trying to cut power… com engineering and see if they can cut power to the lab. Otherwise… we could try to also get a schematic.. and a couple of plasma torches and get creative…” She looks to the chamber, then the console again. “My best guess… there could be a power flux… that’s drawing more power than the system can handle.” She says as she looks around the room. “Do you have a tricoder in here?” Her voice showed the urgency she felt at the somewhat desperate situation, though overall her voice was calm. Her eyes continued to scan the room, looking at the tools and stations that were in the lab.

“Lots,” Greene said. “Behind you in the equipment cupboard.” He waved to the general area behind Brecker where there was a tall set of equipment cabinets.

James followed her hitting the right side of the console, trying to increase the shields to the chamber. He told Kylie “ I don’t think it’s safe, to just cut the power.”

Cadet James Black engineer

“Certainly not unless you want to be flooded with tetryon radiation and expose everyone to a subspace anomaly,” Greene barked. “But we do need to find a way to cut the power flowing through the chamber, or increase power to the shields. But I don’t know why we have leakage through the shields in the first place. These systems are meticulously checked.”

Rice hit her commbadge. =/\=Rice to Operations. We’ve got a containment problem down here and Doctor Green can’t shut down the experiment chamber. The lab has gone into lockdown.=/\=

=/\=Alshoi here. How bad is it?=/\=

Rice looked to Greene who grimaced. =/\=Not too bad… yet. But we need to maintain the shielding and still shut down the power to the chamber.=/\=

=/\=Commander Rice, Russo is on his way down to see what he can do. Stand by and do what you can to protect yourselves. And maintain an open comm.=/\=

“Understood,” Rebecca said. She gestured to Cadet Black. “Cadet, in the far corner should be the emergency supplies. Grab a medkit so we can at least inoculate ourselves and buy some time.”

~Mischief Maker

“Well I meant that obviously… power to the canister not necessarily the shields. I would have figured they would be on independent power leads… if its piggybacked into each other, then we have more problems.” Kylie said as she jogged over to the supply cabinent that Greene mentioned. She grabbed one of the Tricoders, and a PADD if one is also in there. She jogged back to the cannister and then quickly she started to take some readings, of the canniseter if possible, of the shield emmitter, and various other components and consoles in the room wether they appear directly related or not.

Greene was fixated on the console as she tried several different shutdown commands, but all to no avail. But Brecker’s question percolated through his mind. “They are technically separate but programmed such that the shields are automatically on if the chamber is running power. Objects are taken in and out once power is off, for safety reasons. But something is wrong and the command pathways aren’t responding the way they should be. This should not be possible!”

James walks over picks up the medkit and pulls out the hypospray, puts Hyronalin into the spray. And awaits further orders he was trying to remain calm,in the situation he was under. But he was pretty sure that the medicine would help the radiation if it was needed.
James Black engineer

“Have you done your emergency first aid course yet, Cadet Black?” Commander Rice said.

~Mischief Maker
Yes I have, there is also a pill form but we need it now. I’m ready to administer the inoculation ,I also was the medic on the kurduc freighter. I worked on.

Cadet James black engineer

Rice didn’t have to debate about forms of medication and which were appropriate when, so she just nodded. “Hypos will do. A dose of hyronalin to each person.”

Meanwhile, the tricorder Cadet Brecker was wielding was showing that the shield around the chamber was actually losing power at a discernible rate of 0.5% every ten seconds. It was currently at 73%. Then again it might not matter as there was already a leak.

“We need to re-set the command pathways for the chamber,” Greene said, panic creeping into his tone.

“Take a deep breath, Doctor,” Rebecca said. “We’ll figure it out.” Or at least she hoped they did before they died of radiation poisoning, but she kept that morbid thought very much to herself.

~Mischief Maker

Kylie’s voice took a steely calm. She looked at the tricoder a cold sweat begins to break out over her body. “We have a problem.” She paused momentarily chosing her words carefuly. “The shielding wont hold for long. Something is sucking at the power of the shielding.” She pauses a moment doing some calculations in her head. It’s losing power at about 1% every 20 seconds… thats 3% every minute… which is..” She paused yet again continuing to think and calculate in her head. “We have aproximatly 24 minutes before the shielding completely fails.” She then looks to Green. “Can they bost the power to the shield?” She asked before she continued to scan other components of the machine looking for what may be causing it. She then tapped her combadge =^=Cadet Breker to Dr. Rahm Vesta. We have a situation in the labs. Something went wrong with a demonstration and now we encountering Tachion radiation. we have provisions to innoculate from it. But we only have 24 minutes before the shield fails. The lab is sealed as an emergency… it could turn into a medical emergency if we can’t shut down the system.=^=

OOC: To keep it fair I only used mental math. No cheating lol though it comes out to a repeating number. I know it requires a crosspost, which I will do once it is cleared, meaning Idk if there is interference or I may be wrong in a cadet having a combadge. Not entirely sure ^^’
D Inman

OOC: Wonderful! Cookies for you! :D Go ahead and cross-post to the other thread- the radiation isn’t interfering too much in that way.... yet. And yes, everyone would wear a combadge.
IC:
Greene was pinching his nose, trying to think, but had fallen silent for the moment.

Commander Rice looked over as she was working at the controls. “We’re trying to boost it, but the command pathways are not responding. We might need external override in the systems. Russo’s on his way though. He might know what to do. But I’ll take suggestions if you have them. At this point we might need to try anything.”

~Mischief Maker

A crackle surged through the combadge.

=^=Dr. Rah.... En..g.n Br…er. We are a.... …d [zzzzt] ..n our way. To prevent ag…t the ea.. si.ns of radiation poisoning, [bzzzzzzt] emergency hypospray: [zzzzzpt] and lectrazine. [....zzt] Challenger. Please [zzzzpt] ..and hold on hope.=^=

-CMO Rahm Vesta

James put the lectrazine in. His basic training for an engineer wont help them much, but he did know medical. To which hypospray on all of them was used. He seemed calm but he didn’t know if it was him or really getting hard to breathe.

=^= Cadet Black, [kzt] in the contain… [krk] near… the exit as they can [kzzzt] with Doctor Vesta… [crrk] out of there. =^=
The message was mostly able to make it through, though the interference muddled it a bit.

~ Lt. Rodier - CoS (X-Post from Bridge)

Kylie gives James a side eye her expression becoming guarded. She let him get close to administer the hyposprays, but once that was done quickly she moved away. She moved across the room putting as much distance between them as she could. “Well… do you have any large power cells in this lab? The best thing I could think of at the moment would be to jerri-rig them to the power line of the shields… it could supply a sufficient level of power enough to allow us to contain the breach long enough for the containment protocols to disengage… and allow for us to get out of the lab… Then, I would imagine after a evacuation power could be cut to this portion and allow for it to safely run it’s course.” Kylie looks thoughtful. “Any luck on the schematic?” She asks thinking about the first plan she had offered up.
Cadet Kylie Brecker, Engineer

Greene seemed to snap to focus and sighed. “Any power cells are in an storage room back in the main lab. I know how this was built and it is supposed to be separate power sources.”

=/\=Russo to Rice. We’re outside the -ab. What’s your sta-us?=/\=

Rebecca exhaled audibly. Clearly proximity helped with the comm interference. =/\=Oh, thank goodness. We’re okay for the moment and inoculated for the time being against the radiation, but struggling to keep containment on the chamber. Cadet Brecker from the engineering department was wondering about specs. That’s your territory given the classification.=/\=

He nodded, more to himself than anything. =/\=Cadet Breker, are you able to get a -ew on the main power supply? It means pull– off the lower panel on the base of the chamb- and assessing the power assembly. There – supposed to be two separate ones. One on the right and one on the left. Are they st– separately wired?=/\=

~Mischief Maker

“ Okay everyone nearest the exit please stay there,” he visualized a perimeter in his head to try to keep everyone in line with the exit. He could breathe a little better now that he had a task,
