Kylie Brecker casually strolled around deck nine. She seemed thoughtful for a bit as she subconsciously headed towards the Nine Forward Lounge. After a few moments, she realized she stood at the closed door lost in her own head. The human woman chuckled to herself and muttered to herself about missing an old hobby. Abruptly she headed towards the turbolift as an idea sparked in her head. Stepping onto the turbolift she seemed somewhat excited betraying her usually collected demeanor. “Deck Five.” She said quickly and watched as the door shut, and she grabbed onto a railing on the side as the lift shot up heading to her specified deck. A moment later there is a ding and a soft =^=Deck Five=^= came from within the lift. The cadet wasted no time as she hurried off of the turbolift. Quickly she to Holodeck 1 and checks if it is in use. Seeing the compartment was not being utilized at the moment her grin grew even wider. Stepping to the door she speaks softly. “Computer Simulate the Hell’s Kitchen restaurant circa 2010.”
She waited a moment as the computer worked on her request. She waited on the doors before they opened. The doors opened to a street in Manhattan, revealing a grand building in front of her. She stared at the neon lit entrance of the building looking thoughtful as her mind wandered to some of the technical aspects of the science behind making such glowing lights. Her mind didn’t stick to the task too long as she stepped up the stairs and into the building. Stepping inside her breath was sucked away as she took in the arcature. She looked around a bit before heading back towards her true goal. The kitchen. She seemed to be in awe of the stations and implements of the kitchen looking at the tools and gadgets each neatly in their places. She smiled a gleam in her eye.
In her youth on the ship she was raised on she remembered the fits the protean resequencer, and replicators would give in giving cooked or prepared foods. She found it odd and strange that they could get raw materials… or things that were burned so badly that it was charcoal. So they had had their ingredients sequenced raw, and someone had made a makeshift kitchen on their ship. She couldn’t for the life of her remember how she got drawn into cooking the first time… but now it was a job that she found she missed. She took measure and tested a few things she didn’t know what they were for or what they did and eventually familiarized herself with the tools in the kitchen. She takes quite some time doing this, memorizing each.

Dar was on his way to the holodeck that he reserved. It was the first time in a long time, that he was going to use one. Approaching the door, he noticed a program already running. “Hmm. This is odd. Hells Kitchen? What in Celestia is that?” He pondered for a moment trying to recall where he had heard the word Hell before, and it donned on him. It was from Earth and an older popular religion that faded away into obscurity when people finally realized that gods were all man made and invented to either explain what they couldn’t at the time or to control the masses. Either way, some people didn’t want it to leave and others did. There were benefits and problems with it and all religions. He knew that there were still some cults or sects that followed it still and he wondered again..then looked back up at the door. “Is this person or being a follower of this cult? I think I am going to have a peak and find out.” He said to no one but himself. Going in as the doors opened he was aww struck at the grandeur of the building. Could this be what their churches looked like? Walking he saw a lady in a kitchen looking for stuff. He decided to wait a bit before calling out to see what she was doing. He was clearly in a kitchen, but is this Hell?

Hearing the sounds of steps on the marble tile, Kylie looked up her face gained a curious look. “Are you part of the program, or…” She trailed off as she could not recall having seen this person before. She casually sets down the stand mixer in her hands, as she was holding one up, admiring the construction of the device. She bites her lip for a moment hoping it was part of the program and not another person. In her mind only echoed I hope it’s part of the program… I might just die otherwise

He thought about saying he was part of the program and acting the bit briefly but decided against it. Bowing deeply and speaking as he rose; “Hello madam. My name is Sorazo Dar. I originally had this holodeck reserved for this time and noticed that there was a program already running. I am very sorry, as I would have normally left and came back at a later time, but the title of your holo intrigued me like a puzzle to a Vulcan. I thought this was a religious program giving the name but could not figure out why the word kitchen was attached to it. I decided that this was a good time to learn about one of Earths religions. I am a Trill you see and know nothing of the sort. Again. I apologize for disturbing you and for alarming you.” The 40 year old Trill said.

Kylie opened her mouth then closed it, then opened it again. Her face turned a light cherry blossom shade of pink as she seemed to be flustered. After a moment to recollect herself and get her reaction under control her face becomes slightly stoic. “Dar… oh yes the new councilor right? I remember seeing an announcement made. It is a pleasure to meet you sir, I am Cadet Kylie Brecker. I didn’t realise that the holodeck was reserved, I appologize. No.. not a religion I remember hearing about it, apparantly it was a big resturant back in the 21st century.. I didnt have much to go on… the ship I grew up on… our synthisizer never worked right… either we would sequence raw foods, or if we tried to synthise anything cooked it would cause it to be burned, or ruined in one way or another… so we had found some old records on cooking… we made a make shift kitchen and learned to cook. It became one of my favorite things to do. After hearing about this paticular resturant then I figured the federation would have a program on it… and well I supposed that I would indulge myself on my favorite past time.” She explained to him the light traces of embarrassment traced into her voice.

Now it was Dar’s turn to be embarrassed. “Ah. I see. And no need to apologize for the using this room little lady. You go right ahead and keep using it. Well for another three hours that is, because that is all I booked it for.” Looking around a bit before going on again. “And yes. I am the new counselor. Lieutenant Commander Sorazo Dar at your service madam.” He said bowing deeply. Raising back up he spoke again. “I rarely use honorifics and titles. Those things come and go but I will always be Sorazo Dar. And I apologize again for disturbing you in your fantasy. Now that I know what it really is, I feel kind of embarrassed thinking it was a religious program. So, I am going to go ahead and leave you to it Miss Brecker but before I do, I want to say, that what you and the people on your old ship did was very smart. You adapted and overcame a problem and you are here now for it. But if you ever want to cook for real again, just let me know. I am no professional but I am a very good cook. I do it whenever I can, because to me, it tastes better.” He waited to hear what she had to say before he left.

She blinked for a moment before her smile grew. She gave a nod. ” Thank you Mr. Dar. I too noticed that. The resequenced food is good… but it’s missing something… I suppose there is something about making it by hand, just makes the flavor all that more....” She paused a moment as she brought her left hand to her lips “… more.” She added seemingly at a loss for words. Well I had heard that some holodecks were set up with access to resequencers… so cooking may be possible here on the holodeck. That being said, I have not heard much about the Trill. And well while my unusual hobby may haps been discovered, it would be interesting to learn more about the cuisine of other extraterrestrial species.” She says offering him a friendly smile, her body language noted that her usual temperament tended to be towards a gruff outward appearance. She was seemingly warmed up to him very quickly, mayhaps due to his discovery and offer towards her hobby.
