SNIP

With the events of Jupiter Station behind them, Aaron figured the crew could deal with a bit of a break. It was also a good chance for the new crew to get to mingle with everyone else on the Challenger. With the help of the station, he had managed to arrange for food and drink to be brought over for everyone.

=^= Attention all hands. You are all invited to join me in the crew lounge, Nine Forward, at 1800 hours this evening. Casual dress is encouraged, and I hope to see everyone there! =^=

Just enough time to get the last few things arranged and to get changed before the festivities.

Capt Foley - CO

Dar showed up wearing a light blue long sleeve tunic top that had three buttons or toggles really. on the top and white dress pants with a pair of brown moccasins without socks on. Looking around spoke to no one at all. “Well. I guess I am here early. I’ll look around to help set up more.” With that he trotted around looking for things to do.

Lt. Commander Sorazo Dar, CNS

Kylie heard the announcement and waited her time out. A while later, quietly the cadet stepped onto the deck from the turbolift. She headded down the corridor lost in her own thoughts. She stepped into the lounge and looked around her posture was a little stiff, as she appeared to be in the Starfleet regulation dress uniform. She walked more into the room, giving a small nod to LtCom. Dar. She made her way around the room, skirted towatds the edges and walls, and found a spot to sit that she hoped would be pretty inconspicious.
Cadet Kylie Brecker (Engineer)

James was in his red and blue dashiki, he heard the message from his CO he took the turbolift. To the designated area, where he could see a small number his crew assembled. He got some tea, and found a seat. It was nice to have a break, from everything. He nodded at Dar, and Kylie.

James black security

Pilar entered the lounge, although she was later than she intended to be, she knew this was a very special event. She had managed to dig out her long lost fitted, knee length, purple wraparound dress. It honestly felt strange but nice to wear something other than her Starfleet uniform.
After being in the lounge a few minutes Pilar spotted Kylie, nodded at the counselor and James, trying to sort out who to interact with first. She made her way over to Kylie who seemed to want to stay hidden in the sparsely populated room. “Cadet Brecker. It seems like just yesterday I did your onboarding evaluation. How are you feeling?”

Halcyone, XO

Kylie looked away from James a sour expression crossed her face. She stood up as the XO approached her. She then stretched out her hand offering it to shake. “Commander.” She says a little tursely before her expression broke and a smile formed on her face. “I am well. I didn’t think it would be so life and death even in the academy.” She gave a small chuckle then took her orher hand and rubbed it against the back of her neck for a moment before she dropped it back into place at her side. “It seems like yesterday, and also a lifetime ago. It is good to see you.” Her expression turned warm, open, and relaxed. It showed some slight hints of friendly affection. She takes a breath and gives part of it out in a sigh. “Things change constantly, which is good. But I guess it just makes it hard to get into a routine. After being in one for so long the near constant flux is a little offputting. However,” Kylie paused a moment her expression thoughtful and somewhat somber. “Speaking of the life and death thing… I may have held my cool in that lab… but it was terrifying being responsible for the lives of everyone in the room. If anything It gave me more perspective. Into yours and the Captains roles, and how nervewracking it must be to have to make judgement calls.” She then offers a warm smile.
Cadet Kylie Brecker (Engineer)

Pilar smiled and then said, “Considering everything and even though I was not trapped in the lab with you, I heard you did very well. Also, you did what a good Starfleet officer would do. Maintain composure despite the circumstances. It’s okay to be scared but its also important to focus on getting through the situation and working toward the best outcome. That is exactly what you did. You should be proud of yourself. I certainly am. As for the Captain and I, we honestly contributed little to the situation. We only hoped that everyone would emerge whole. Thank goodness that is exactly what happened.”

Dar nodded to everyone as they entered as he finally found what he was looking for. The drinks and food set off in a little room. “Ahh! There they be.” He grabbed the food cart and rolled it out for everyone, and placed it in the section he knew cadets and some staff would go in order…hide or be conspicuous. He did not anyone feeling left out. This was a celebration and not a hide and seek game. He smiled at Cadet Brecker and gave a slight bow. “Morning Miss Beckler. The food is here and I will be back with the drinks. The food carts were filled with cakes, pastries and rolls with all kinds of jams and jellies along with finger sandwiches and the like.

“Thank you Lieutenant Commander Dar.” She took a treat from the cart. Pilar loved these events. It was really the only time she got to indulge in cakes and sweet rolls. She looked at Cadet Black and said, “Mr. Black. I see you are now wearing a security uniform. How do you like your new department?”

Dar nodded to the Commander.

He went back and brought out the drink cart. It was filled with coffee, teas, juices and some low alcohol content adult beverages. Nodding to her once more. “I’ll just leave this right here for you madam. Turning around and smiling. “The food and drink are here, but I think we should wait on the Captain before we partake in the food unless the esteemed XO says otherwise.” He bowed to the XO.

Lt. Commander Sorazo Dar, CNS

OOC: I apologize if I stated the food and drinks incorrectly. I was just trying to write a meaningful post.
OOC: You did great! ~Mika

IC: Pilar took the drink Sorazo provided. I think we should go ahead and enjoy our food and drinks. We can’t wait all day for the Captain. Also, I am sure he won’t mind.” she said as she raised her glass. It was too late anyway. She had already eaten two sweet rolls and was eyeing a third one. “So Mr. Dar, how are you feeling after the mission?

“Please Commander. Just Sorazo, or Dar is fine. Although Your Highness has a nice ring to it.” He winked and smiled while he stopped the cart and sat next to her. “To be honest Commander. I learned a lot. It has been a while since I have been aboard a ship and a station. A lot of the protocols, that I learned early on in my career where obsolete and I had to adapt and overcome much like our cadet friends here. It was also a very long time since I was on a mission. I haven’t been on one since Wolf 359 and I was was very nervous. I expected them all to die because that was what happened at Wolf. I am very glad that you and others were there to help guide and train me. Thank you very much.” He laughed a bit. “I guess a sad truth was realized that day Commander. That after Wolf, I ran away from space and stayed on the ground. BUT!” He exclaimed as he stood up fast. “Like these brave cadets, I faced my own fears and am better for it. Sorry to damper your mood. Here take some more of these.” He leaned in real close to her face and whispered while placing three more sweet cakes onto her plate. “They’re fresh.” Then he winked once more and began to whistle as he pushed the cart nodding to people that waved to him.

Halcyone, XO

OOC: Nope! I figured all sorts of foods, though it’s a weeee bit later then morning. :-D
IC:
“Not at all!” Aaron called out as he walked into the lounge. He grabbed himself a cup of coffee as he walked over towards the XO.

“I’m sorry for being late, the responsibilities of command never end. Please everyone, please grab something to eat and drink.”

Capt Foley - CO

Kylie gave a smile and nodded as she accepted the drink. She took the flute glassware and sampled the drink inside. She looked bemused but nodded. “Synthehol champagne. Not bad.” She took the drink and declined the food quietly and tactifly moving back to her seat in the corner and taking a seat. She quietly sipped out of the glass her expression visibally more nervous and slightly distraught the more people that showed up in the lounge.

Demil entered the room a minute late, out of breath. He was almost in casual clothing: his uniform undershirt without pips and the matching pants. As he entered, he took a glass of juice that he quietly sipped at, then looked over to the CO and XO. “I’m sorry for being late, there was an experiment I had to wrap up.”
He stood around for a minute, before noticing Kylie’s expression. He walked over to her, weaving through the ever-increasing crowd. “Are you alright, cadet?”

Being an astute caregiver he noticed Cadet Brecker and was going to go over there but Lt. Lis beat him to hit. “That’s a good lad.” He whispered.”

Ang wasn’t a huge fan of gatherings. She wasn’t one for the press of bodies, the small talk, the fake smiles and jeers and ‘we should hang out more often’s. But it was in the main lounge and she was a fan of a drink this evening. The Cadets were back and safe, she had new ones to show the ropes to and her work out on the holodeck hadn’t exactly gone the way she planned. Her head wasn’t in the moment and she nearly lost. The idea of losing to a moving picture was enough to put a crease of frown on the woman’s face as she entered the lounge got a drink and looked for a place near the windows in the corner where she could see others but not be jostled or snuck up on.

Her ankles crossed as she leaned against the wall. The black leggings nearly made her legs disappear into the lower wall. And the sapphire tank top tunic that hung passed her hips set off her blue grey eyes and made them half shine in the lighting.

Ang sipped her ale and watched the Cadets, new and old, mingle with The Brass and get to learn they were part of a family now.

Kylie looked up and kind of shrunk back into her seat a little clearly she did had not expected to be approached, nor that she seemed to be paying attention to the goings on around her. She fidgets within the seat the distress clear on her face. “I uh…” She hesitated and adjusted the cuffs of her dress uniform. After doing so she seems to use her fingers on her right hand seemingly traced some sort of pattern on her left wrist. “To be honest sir. I’m not good with social functions. Crowds make me nervous… but since it came from the Captain… attendance seemed mandatory. Especially after the near disaster on Jupiter Station. I hope…” At the thought that she seemed to have her face grew paler than it already was. Whatever went through her head terrified her to no end. She took a moment to recollect herself and calm down a bit. After a moment she upended the small flute of synthehol and gave a small sigh. “I’ll be alright once it’s over.” Her gaze shifted around the room as she seemed to calm down enough to come to her senses a bit more. As she saw her department head her face looked less worried and more thoughtful. Her fingers that idly traced over her wrist lifted from her wrist to her lips, gently she bit down her index finger. Her face turned from worry, to thoughtful, then almost a scheming gleam in her eye.
