The files leading up to Torgan gro-Khaduk finding himself in Starfleet - was about what one would expect. A countryboy born to a family of hard workers with a particular penchant an protective instinct of those who were around himself. Passable grades but the barest measure of application to his studies. Every perception of the youth growing up was that he would enter into service of ground force military or even venture to seek out purely as a marine. A student of conflict - a fighter of his own right - he had a build that would work well for the measure of direct battle and a willingness to learn new ways to fight whether that is unarmed combat, armed combat, or utilization of any measure of energy based weapons.

The reports of his educators to this point holding well that Torgan was the type of person who hadnt really pushed himself. Some of the few testing patterns of him being when he arranged what amounted to laser tag amidst cadets of the academy in a large scale war of sorts using the simplest measure of weaponry but using what they had learned as the basic measures of combat and strategy lessons in different teams. Some instructors designating that Torgan was the type who should only be told ‘you cant do that - its impossible’ unless its an absolute emergency as Torgan it the type of person that if lives were in danger he would risk every bit of himself to accomplish the task which had been proven by moving materials and gearing when others were unable to do so and equipment for the proper measure of movement was inoperable he had realized it was a risk to others and had stressed himself seeking to push the materials out of the way moving it himself or when told it would be impossible to get access to a location he tried to MAKE access. The greatest surprise for those who came before in his studies was when being scolded for not really applying himself in his studies he had been told that to truly meet expectations of grades he would have to seek out additional coursework which lead to a minor in the sciences revolving around Weapons after an instructor let slip that Explosives are based on Science and lead to a nearly overnight binge watch of the vintage video recording of a show called McGyver.

Now…there he stood…the towering form in a clean well prepared uniform standing at the door of the Chief of Security…thinking in that moment of all of the roads and paths that lead to this point…his hand slowly reaching out tapping the call button lightly…patiently waiting for the bid to enter when they were ready for him and once permission was granted he stepped forward calmly but steadily entering in before pausing form going to attention.

“Cadet Torgan gro-Khaduk reporting for duty…” he spoke with every bit of the southern accent that the work horses among humanity so often had.

Lieutenant Zunara had not long settled in to his new position onboard the Challenger, so he could perfectly understand what the flood of new cadets coming on board for one last mission before departing the relative comfort of the Academy forever and venturing forth on whatever posting the higher ups at Command thought would suit, he often got to wondering what position awaited him once his tenure on this masterpiece of a ship was over… Not that he was keen to break away of course, the Challenger was sure to prove to be a fine ship. Zunara had recalled the words of an old acquaintance of his from a year or two above him in Tactical Training Classes at the Academy once he settled in.

The Challenger’s a good ship lad; treat her right, she’ll see you home.

He wondered what that young officer found himself up to now, Kyle he said his name was.

Suddenly aware of the fact that Cadet Trogan had been standing at attention for a good thirty seconds or so now; he stood with a warm smile on his face, “At ease Cadet, don’t want to sprain yourself on your first day, can I get you anything?”

OOC: Excellent first post Charles, I’m gonna have to keep rereading it to ensure that Zunara’s asking you the right kind of questions! My one tip, which will come in handy particularly when you start posting in threads with more than two people, always remember to sign off your part of the post with your character’s name and position, as I will demonstrate below. This just ensures that your phenomenal literary skills don’t get lost in the shuffle of a Sim!

Like a slow moving wave of loose packed snow over breaking ground level hints of ice Torgan relaxed - starting at the back of his skull and working down his neck and beginning a flow of relaxation down through his body until reaching his boots even rolling his shoulders and wrists and flexing his fingers as he went to relax at least a little more than he previously had been while standing at attention. It didnt seem to overtly bother Torgan where it came to presenting himself professionally nor standing at the ready - a practiced state the he had been registering as a future ‘common’ state where it came to Security and Tactical duties.

“No thank you…I had entertained a quick coffee before making my way to report wanting to make sure I was in an ideal mental state for presentation.” Torgan spoke calmly and clearly, “As in space there is no ‘normal’ shift outside of shift hours versus planetside using the sun as some measure of reference.” he added readily.

“I hope you don’t mind me ‘entertaining’ a coffee of my own, it’s already been quite the day!” Zunara keyed the replicator and took a deep breath as he took in the dark, rich cup, “So, tell me, why Starfleet Cadet? And more to the point, why Security?”

-Lieutenant Zunara: Chief of Security-

“I would never be one to refuse coffee for anyone in a leadership or command position.” Torgan spoke honestly and earnestly inclining their head respectfully.

“Admittedly initially all presentations held that I should look at ground based conflict efforts…because it was ‘simpler’ but simple isnt always the best path to look into and just because I am built different doesnt mean thats the pure focus for combat endeavors. I considered seeking a path towards marines but hoped to be able to make a bit more of a difference. Not a thousand of the same. With Starfleet…one never really knows what will happen next…as Starfleet ventures to experience new things…and growing up I had always been told I have a very doglike personality…very protective of whats around me and what I consider to be home…which when combined with the willingness to be a smaller number seeking to provide protection from the threats of other worlds…to truly embrace being the best of everything I am capable of…which lead to me starting to push myself to try to be better and better versions of myself as time went on. Turning a southerner from Sol into a fighter for a greater cause…and while not directly fighting I can still bide my time learning and developing to becoming the best I can be among tactical…”
