“All right, you two and Doe take tunnel 4A. I’ll take the rest with me and search 4B. If you don’t find anyone, feel free to double back and head toward us. Keep your channels open at all times and be careful. Rainns, you’re heading this group. Cadet Mika can help you with decisions over the wounded.”

With that said, she signaled for the others to follow her. A single man stayed behind and looked to Rainns. NE Doe inhaled nervously as he stood there, waiting for orders.

-Lt. Nijix Tavium, CoS

OOC: I added a map for clarification in one of the other posts. I’ll give ya’ll a chance to review it and make any updates to your directions based on that. Sorry for the confusion.

Rainns took a deep breath, he had never been assigned to lead any part of an away team before, and the anxiety the situation created was sudden, but he registered his orders, turned to his team and nodded his head toward their path. “Let’s get a move on,” he said, with as much confidence as possible.

Cadet Joseph Rainns- Security

/\= Challenger to Tavium. Scans reveal that it is unlikely the culprit has left the system. Be aware and keep communications open between the ship and the other teams. =/\=

Davis, CO (crosspost)

Cadet Mika nodded to Rainns. “Agreed. Let’s get moving,” she said. She could tell he was nervous. He’d been put in charge after all. Being on an away team was nerve racking enough for Cadets. But she was more worried about her own job. She wanted to find anyone they could find.

~ Cadet Tandra Mika, Doctor

Nijix’s voice came up on the open channel for everyone to hear, replying to the CO’s warning.

=^= Tavium here. We’ll keep that in mind. If anyone sees or hears anything strange, report it immediately. Keep your eyes and senses alert.=^=

NE Doe shuddered, then spoke. “Just when I didn’t think this mission could be any worse. What did we walk in on?”

The question was more to ease his worry and stress from the tunnels. His small fear of tight spaces gnawed at him as he stepped closer to Mika, his eyes flickered about into the gloom.

“Umm, shouldn’t we be getting those people to talk again? You know, to locate them?”

-NE, John Doe

Rainns snapped his fingers, “Yes,” he directed his beam further down the tunnel and called out, “If anyone is down here feel free to get our attention!” He quickened his pace ever so slightly, focusing on the pathway ahead, anticipating a response.

Cadet Joseph Rainns- Security

Mika realized the Ensign had a point. She had forgotten completely, and judging by the way Rainns snapped his fingers, she assumed he had as well. And so, in a voice much more timid than she would have liked, she called, “Anyone injured, call out!”

~ Cadet Tandra Mika, Doctor

The Chief Engineer’s voice came over Lt. Tavium’s communicator.

=^= This is Lt. Vras. It is possible some sensors may have been tampered with that allowed for a mine explosion to take place. We are still reviewing the circumstances and the current status of the mine sensors. It is possible this may have been a deliberate act. Take all caution while in the mine. =^=

-Lt. Keval Vras, CE

John raised an eyebrow at Mika’s timid voice and gave a small chuckle. His voice teased despite the gravity of the situation. “You can’t tell me that’s the loudest you can get.”

It was obvious he had been trying to ease his own stress.

Meanwhile, Nijix continued the search with her crew. Hearing the CE over her communications, she pressed her comlink. She answered on the open channel.

=^= Nijix to Lt. Vras. I’m starting to suspect that myself. I’ve already notified my teams to be careful and report any odd behavior. The more pieces of this puzzle we have, the better.=^=
