Lobac let out a whine as his “personal” doctor left his side to go be with someone else. “Oh it is hurting again! My leg! It is infected with Denedebian fire worm! It is going to go to my heart! Surely I will die!”

Tija turned her head and looked straight at Lobac, her lips pursed and her expression very stern. “Doctor Schweitzer just treated you. He is a very capable physician. If you had an infection or injury that was even remotely serious, he would have spotted it and told me. You’re are not the only person who got injured and right now we have to focus on helping those whose lives are actually in danger,” she said in quiet, yet rather brusque voice. Without waiting for Lobac’s reply, she turned back towards Ouess.

As for Ouess, her leg was also a mild injury. A blow to the knee or something else to cause it to be dislocated was all it was. It had been crudely set in bandaged causing the hobble. “I am fine,” she insisted pouring herself a cup of the black goo that passed as coffee. “It is dangerous out here, Lieutenant. We don’t have those fancy Star Fleet ships, you know.” She glanced over the rest of the crew, “Anyway if you can get my folks out I’d appreciate it. We aren’t in a place to dig them out ourselves, not with the speed it would take to get to them before their food ran out.”

“You have dislocated your knee. I would prefer to take care of that now so you have full mobility back,” Tija replied in a slightly gentler voice than when she had spoken to Lobac a moment ago. But it was probably still clear that she wasn’t going to let anyone either completely downplay or exaggerate their injuries. While getting the needed equipment from her shoulder back, she continued, “As for the other miners, we have a team in the mine right now working on getting them out. Our ship is on the standby with another shuttle and also working on ways to beam everyone off the surface of the moon. Rest assured that we are doing everything we can to get all your people to safety.”

The Chief Engineer’s voice came over Tija’s communicator.

=^= This is Lt. Vras. It is possible some sensors may have been tampered with that allowed for a mine explosion to take place. We are still reviewing the circumstances and the current status of the mine sensors. It is possible this may have been a deliberate act. Take all caution while in the mine. =^=

=^= Acknowledged, Lt. Vras.

Cadet Schweitzer went back to Ouess and redressed her knee. After ensuring range of movement, Schweitzer have her an analgesic hypospray for the pain and made certain Ouess could be transported if the bunker became unstable and they needed to evacuate.

Taking a deep breath, Tija tried to keep the anger that was bubbling up inside her in check. Snapping at another person (and another cadet), would not be helpful. She knew that. Yet after everything that had happened so far since she entered the shuttlebay not long ago, her fuse had become very short and her emotions were much closer to the surface than normal. And anyone disrupting the chain of command and then treating someone she was taking care of while ignoring the person they were supposed to look after was pushing her patience to the edge right now. Despite the fact that - on a rational level - she was fully aware that he had meant well and that patient mix up was most likely nothing but a misunderstanding.

Crossing the small distance between her and Schweitzer, Tija said in a low voice that hopefully only he could hear, “I appreciate your eagerness and I know you only want to help. But next time take please care of the person I asked you to take care off and don’t ignore the chain of command by answering a call I got when I’m standing here perfectly capable of answering it myself.” While she tried not to be to harsh, it most likely was still obvious that she was anything but pleased.

OOC: I’m sorry for the harsh reaction. It’s completely IC :)

~Lt. Tija, CMO

The base chief smirked as the cadet was dressed down but said nothing, covering her grin with another long sip from the coffee mug. When they finished she nodded and said to Tija, “Well yes some proper care would be nice. Like I said, it is helpful if you could get us treated then we won’t keep you much longer. Interference and all of that, along with old equipment since someone is cheap!”

The last part was clearly directed at the Ferengi balled up in the corner being a drama queen.
