She bounces down the seemingly never ending corridor, her fire red tresses becoming more of a mess with each stride as her dark eyes search the rows of doors for the one marked sickbay. Her freckled face brightens as at last the fresh cadet locates her destination, the doors ‘swooshing’ as she enters. Quickly she finds the name plate on one of the inner doors marked with the name Obiah Torrirs. Taking a deep breath to steady her nerves, raising a hand she reaches out and timidly knocks.

“Come in!” The voice echoed from within the room. When she stepped into the office, she would find a rather idiosyncratic Trill situated behind tne desk. With unruly, curly hair cut short upon their head, they gave off the air od a young officer. Their skin was a deep, nearly cherry brown, freckled with pale, cream toned spots, as opposed to the general black which most recognized their people for. Thw office itself was quaint, the only notion beyond a simple picture of the Officer and two humans, was a small, ancient stethoscope.

Upon hearing the voice on the other side of the door, she stepped forward taking a deep breath as the doors part before her. Surveying her surroundings thoughtfully, noting a lack of THINGS in the space provided for the CMO’s office. A bit of nerves creep over her slight frame while approaching the desk, her toe catches the floor nearly tripping as a hand reaches out to steady herself at the desks edge. She blushes slightly bringing herself to attention as she announces her arrival. “ Cadet Lenore Mantis reporting for duty….Sir!”

Obiah rose their head, a brow quirking high upon it. Shaking it, they offered only the faintest of smiles towards the young Cadet, who seemed like she was training to become a Marine before a Starfleet Officer. “This isn’t the Marine Corps, Cadet. You don’t have to call me ‘sir,’ in such an enthusiastic matter.” They rose to their feet, offering a speckled hand towards the newly assigned trainee. “I am Lieutenant Obiah Torrirs, the Chief Medical Officer of this ship. You just be..” They glanced down at their PADD, “The new doctor, yes?” They inquired, well aware of the name already presented to them.

OOC: Torrirs withholds and non-binary stance. So, when I refer to them as ‘they/them/their’ that is denoting a single person. Just for future reference. :)

OOC Yes I had gathered that, I did bother to at least glance at your character bio :D, The Sir being out of respect. Welcome back by the way.

Diana

OOC: Thank you! Also, awesome!

IC Taking their offered hand in her own firm grasp the overly excited doctor shakes it vigorously, “Forgive me,” she said still shaking said hand. “I’m just so happy to be here on the Challenger of all places imagine that, insignificant me on a star ship. Yes that’s right the new Doctor.” Wow it was just beginning to soak in. All the hard work her Father had encouraged her through. The long hours of Medical School starting in her high school years and by the grace of God finishing her residency in only 3 years, here she was….a Doctor on the U.S.S Challenger.

“It is quite all right,” The Doctor shook her hand, inclining their head. “It isn’t uncommon for people to express such respect towards those around them. Just know, you don’t have to.. at least, not on the Sickbay.” Their smile was unwavering, as they motioned for the young Cadet to take a seat in front of them, amused by the nature which soon assumed her eyes. “Do you have a specialty, Doctor?” They asked, knowing that most doctors have a specific field which they were best trained within. It would be best for them to know, so they could work on getting the Cadet conditioned to the field, while on a Starship.

“A specialty,” she repeated thoughtfully as her small frame settled into the chair. “I suppose my specialty would be general medicine, added to that was general psychology and human behavior. I studied everything I could while growing up and getting my education.” Their gaze seemed quite intense as she spoke to them rattling on and on about herself as if she was the most important person in the room. Realizing how foolish she must sound she jumped up suddenly out of the chair leaning over the desk to apologize for her behavior. To the cadets horror, as she did so, her hand made contact with the stethoscope on the desk knocking it to the hard floor.

OOC: Brillaint post! That certainly added a twist to the action. Keep it up! :D

IC: As the steathescope clattered to the ground, Torrirs froze. The artifact was dated, making it was fragile to the touch. For such a reason, the Doctor seemed hesitant to shift thwie gaze across the barrier of the desk, as to note upon the possible destruction caused by the Cadet’s accidental carelessness. Subtly biting the inside of their lip, they moved leisurely from their chair, kneeling beside the deck to pick up the stethoscope. One of the pads at the end of the binaural had dislodged itself from the eartip, but that seemed to be the extent of the almost infallible artifact. Muttering a sight of relief, Obiah rose to their feet, setting the object on the table, the broken off ear pad, beside it.

“How about we try to keep movements calm, here, shall we?” Their voice, when they finally chose to spoke, was calm and almost maternal. Antithesis to what the poor Cadet would have received, if their mother were here, instead.

The cadet gasped in sheer and utter horror as she realized what had just happened. She quickly slumped back into the chair fighting with everything inside of her to keep from bursting into tears. “Oh Sir!, I am so very sorry please forgive me, is there much damage, is that particular stethoscope important to you?” She suddenly stopped talking and just sat there not moving a muscle. Thoughts rattling in her head as to why she so readily makes a fool of herself in front of certain people of authority.
