OOC: I hope this is okay. I apologize if not. In honor of my Dad. He first introduced me to Star Trek probably the day I came home from the hospital. We watched every episode, every movie, read the comic books together. We recorded hours of episodes to watch when Star Trek wasn’t on TV that night. We played Star Trek Trivial Pursuit together the first time. The day he passed away we finished “The Autobiography of James T Kirk” and had just started “The Autobiography of Jean Luc Picard.” We never got to finish it. So, today on Father’s Day a tribute to dads and daughters. I really miss my dad.

Sharah put down the book she was reading. One of her favorites. She could remember her father reading her this book when she was small. They would read it over and over again. Her father had a love of high fantasy adventure books. She got her love of reading from her father. They read together all the time. Her happiest memories of childhood were sitting next to him, on the couch, listening to his deep voice rumble along as he read of fantastic places, daring heroes, and magical feats. He always told her to be like the heroes in their books. To keep going even when she was scared, even when she felt like giving up, always keep going. Dad and his stories were always there when her world turned side-ways or when everything was going right. When life was simply too confusing, he would pick up a book and they would read together, getting lost in the story for a time. Life always seemed better afterwards. She never doubted that her dad loved her. It had been way too long since she had spoken to him; she hadn’t wanted him to worry about her when she was so far away. Sharah picked the book back up, running her fingers over the leather cover and the worn pages. He had signed it, ‘Always be like these heroes, just never give up.’
Sharah walked over to the comm panel to send a message to her father. “Hi Dad. I’m on my way to start my shift, but I wanted to tell you I was reading our book today. I love you, Daddy.”
