Kyle smiled, he recalled a Starfleet History class taken by Lieutenant Commander Tuvok, in which he discussed a holodeck program he had designed during his time as chief of security on the U.S.S. Voyager. The program was created to prepare the crew for a coup performed by the members of the crew that had joined after being members of the Maquis. “I hope you’re prepared to face the consequences of your actions sir,” Anders said with mock seriousness.

Trenton raised a silent eyebrow at Anders before accepting the PaDD that Rainns had offered to look over the data. “How long do we have to coordinate a team? Besides being Night Watch, are there any other restrictions we should know about?” Ashlyn was glad Rainns couldn’t hear what was going on in her head, Anders too for that matter. The Conference of Trentons was actively turning the headspace into a war room complete with maps and personnel records in order to complete a team roster and basic strategies for how to move out. “Will we have any preliminary data on the Marauders or the Hostages? Service records, Personnel records, Diplomatic Considerations, etcetera?” Trenton wanted to make sure that there would be as little guesswork to do on the fly as possible. Sure she wouldn’t have the time to consider every possible thing that could go wrong, but the more she knew the better off the team will be. “Anders, don’t hesitate to ask questions I may be forgetting or overlooking. Two heads are better than one.”

“I’ve met a couple of Security Cadets during my tours of the ship that might be of some use. Ali McMorran is one, she’s one hell of a runner. If you’re down with the idea, I can get hold of her now?” Kyle asked.

“Anyone in the security department is welcome to participate, but you only have six slots, including you two, so you can bring four other cadets.” Rainns responded. The identity of marauders or hostages does not matter for your purposes.” In response to Trenton’s final comment, his grin changed to a smirk. “You will find, Cadet, my one head is better than three.”

Lt. JG Joseph Rainns- COS

Trenton was silent for a moment considering thoughts carefully. An ego statement was so unlike Rainns and the rest of his behavior was suspicious. Only a collected and controlled response would be acceptable for now. “A team of six cadets, and just to verify you want ONLY security Cadets?” This would still make the initial plans that Trenton had work, she would just have to work with Anders to more carefully select their team, but then it wouldn’t be a challenge for the Night Watch, just security. After some more consideration, Trenton was sure something was up. The Rainns she knows would have understood the Night Watch, wouldn’t have given compliments. Or maybe Rainns learned to chill out and she’s overreacting. After this meeting, she’s going to have to hook up with a friend and get out of her headspace for a while.

Anders decided against vocalising his realisation that Ali McMorran was not on the security team or on his shift. Instead, he decided to pose a question he had been considering throughout the course of this meeting.
“Sir, in a hypothetical situation, if an officer was to damage or misplace a combadge, would said officer be able to find a replacement in the armory?”

-Cadet Kyle Anders: Security-

Ashlyn was considering her answer for a moment when her PaDD alerted her to an update on information. Taking the device from her gym bag, she read over it with a surprised expression. “Sorry Anders, you’re on your own for this one. I’m graduating and have to out process, pack, and prepare to leave the ship. I’ve been assigned to the Europa.” She held the Padd toward Anders and Rainns both, “Sorry for the trouble, I’ll give you what advice I can before I leave, but it’s up to you to lead the security team.”

Kyle had to try and hide the shock, “Blimey, congratulations Ash- Cadet Trenton, if you need a hand moving everything out of our quarters, give me a shout.” Kyle was feeling nervous about the possibility of leading a team of officers alone, but he was determined to show Rainns his full potential.
