IC: The box continues to sit there, waiting for the load test. In case the GM misunderstood however, when the load test is applied a little red light briefly turns on under the door, but other than that is fairly inert.

“Hold Off cadet, let the science guys handle it. Just be ready to adjust the forcefield. ” Gordon said quickly, hoping to stop the cadet from doing anything rash.

The red light seemed like some type of indicator. Surra assumed it meant the door was accessible and could be opened. She went over and put her hand on it. She wasn’t sure what was going to happen when she opened it but she was not one who was particularly afraid of the unknown. “There may be something in here.” she mumbled to herself as she opened it.

“Be ready Griffth.” Gordon remarked, as he made his own adjustments. “

Griffth Flex his fingers waiting for his comand. “Yes, Sir.”

The door popped open and there set a little red light, a microphone, and a speaker. No other identifying markers around just… Three controls.

W-What cloud it be?

Gordon looked at the device that came out. “How dramatic” he said sarcastically.

Surra laughed at Gordon’s comment

Its Looks like a HAL 9000, Or is it just my Franstey?

She look at Griffth nodded and shrugged. “Some type of communication device I presume.” Surra picked up the microphone, serious at first then she suddenly smiled. “If the status of our situation wasn’t filled with so much ambiguity, I might have sang a note or two. In any case, I am thinking I should push that red button and see what happens.”

Lieut. Almikaz-CSO

Almikaz touches, a red indicator light. It does nothing. The mic isn’t really able to be picked up, it is kind of one integrated unit. Maybe it requires some specific voice controls to do something? I mean this is a Starfleet Engineering Corps device given to a Starfleet crew to go to a Starfleet base. Probably responds to normal commands, right?

Gordon took a good hard look at it. He decided to try a command.

“This is Lt John Gordon, Chief Engineer USS Challenger. Identify?” He said in a commanding voice towards the mic.

-Gordon, CE

I-its Not responding
Griffth, Cadet.

The light on the box illuminates briefly and then a voice from the speaker announces in clear, Federation standard, “Passphrase incorrect. Two attempts remaining. Failed third attempt will result in notification of a Flag Officer.”

The light goes dim again.

This is Cadet Gloss, Dim the lights.

Griffth,Cadet.

“Hmmm. Maybe a higher ranking officer need to activate it.
I am guessing we need some type of alphanumeric to access whatever is in here. It must contain restricted information.” She thought for a second. “I don’t see the harm in attempting to more times to see who is the flag officer who would be notified. I hate to say it.....but maybe we should notify Commander Harkness and let him try. He has a higher rank.”

Gordon nodded. “Agreed.”

“I don’t know if either you or I should try our personal command codes?” He suggested thoughtfully.

“We could try. The worst case would be if they didn’t work and the Commander’s does not work either, it would alert a “Flag Officer”. I would like to know who that is.”

What if it’s a trap and the borg find out where we are.

Griffth,Cadet.

“I doubt very much that it will alert the Borg,” Science NE Rutherford interjects without being addressed, “Our course takes us no where near Borg space. No if it is a trap it will be to alert the Romulans. Think about it: This Fleet Captain is half Romulan, right? Maybe he has been passed over for an Admiral post and is bitter? Maybe he wants to be seen as a big hero by saving the day. I dunno. Got a funny feeling about that guy.”

It took a few minutes for Max to make his way back to the Science Lab, he was wrapping up some business on the bridge. Thankfully it wasn’t that far to the lab.

“Where you able to figure out anything about what we are transporting?” he asked as he walked through the door.

Cmdr. Harkness - XO

Gordon nodded. “A little, it looks to be star fleet in origin, but requires authorization to activate or otherwise gain access to it. I tried but I am of insufficient rank to proceed. It also says that if we keep trying and failing to access it, it will notify a flag officer.” He explained to the XO, somewhat amused by this device.

Surra crossed her arms. “So should we try to activate this thing? This would be attempt number two. If this fails we have one last try before we find out who is the flag officer.”
