The cadets that had answered Mika’s hail to transport the body for autopsy begrudgingly deposited the lifeless form of the Ensign on the nearest biobed and then made themselves as scarce as possible.

The body lay there, still, and dead. As the doctors approached the biobed registered exactly no life signs what so every.

OOC: I’ll provide more clues as the autopsy continues.

Mika had followed the Cadet back down to Sickbay. For the entire walk, she had been taking her mind off who the ensign was. She put herself in the mindset of a med student: The cadaver was no one she knew - just something to study. A mystery to be unraveled. She couldn’t let herself be distracted by something so irrelevant as who the cadaver was. Instead, she had to focus on the absolute, scientific facts. Be a Vulcan, she told herself.

Standing over the ensigns body, she began the autopsy with a physical evaluation of the body, scanning it in search of a cause of death.

The autopsy was interesting, to say the least. The time of death couldn’t be precisely measured as the heat from the hot tub kept the body warmer than it should have been normally. Further there was no fluid in the lungs, and while she showed signs of drowning, namely petechial hemorrhaging, the large left hand print around her neck showed that it was something else that deprived her lungs, and ultimately her brain of oxygen. Her windpipe was crushed, along with bruising on her chest and wrist.

With the information at hand, Mika could safely say the cause of death was more likely strangulation than drowning. She would hazard a guess of when, but she’d have to be rather wide with the window of time… Judging by the bruising, Mika guessed there’d been quite a fight. Someone had gripped her wrist, probably held her down before placing their hands over her throat. After noting her findings, she gave the body one last scan, looking for any other clues, or anything that could narrow down the time of death.

A through scan revealed epithelial cells under her finger nails. Also, rigor mortis had begun to sit in, but perhaps it was accelerated by the warm temperature. Accounting for the heat of the hot tub death probably occurred 3-6 hours before the body was found, or sometime during the middle of third watch.

Taking notes on all her findings, she decided it was now time to report to Captain Davis. =/\= Mika to Captain Davis, I’ve got some interesting results here. I’d say she died 3 - 6 hours before we found her. Looks like she fought judging by the state of her finger nails. And one other thing… she was strangled, not drowned. =/\=

=/\= Davis here. Please confirm the identification of the body as Ensign Janga. The computer is reporting that she is alive and well in Sickbay. =/\=
