As T’Mor proceeded to look over the hot tub, Kyle allowed his eyes to glance up at the ceiling. “Computer,” he called out, “Initiate a Level 3 Tachyon Sweep of the XO’s quarters.” Kyle stood watching the young Vulcan as he awaited the results.

-Cadet Kyle Anders: Security-

The computer was silent for a moment as beams whirled in the air completing the scan. “No Tachyon particles detected,” came the brisk and professional reply.

In the water in the hot tub, the CSO wouldn’t find anything unusual other than some stray compounds that were the result of common chemical reactions.

Bringing herself to her feet, McMorran sighed loudly. “Well, there are no clues to be found in the water.” She glanced over to the hot tub controls. “I think we can safely start to cool this place down now, unless anyone objects…” The pale woman fanned herself with a hand as she reached to begin adjusting the controls but pulled back before she reached them. Instead, she set her tricorder to begin a quick sweep for fingerprints on the dials and nobs, curious as to who’s she would and wouldn’t find.

“If I may, Lieutenant,” T’Mor started, “I suggest we have these finger prints analyzed to confirm who was present at the scene.”

The CSO nodded. “We’ll complete our investigation here then take any and all samples we’ve collected over to a lab to analyse.” A melancholy sigh escaped her as she looked around the scene, her eyes gravitating to what she thought was an anachronistic decorative stack of round stones at the far side of the tub. “For now, leave, well… no stone unturned.”

She had no idea at this point that there was foul play involved. Though it did not matter, as she was focused on simply doing her job. So much so she barely acknowledged the Tachyon scan, and had no idea that the other cadet was looking her way.

T’Mor switched her tricorder to scan the champagne itself. It was set to scan for anything that was not alcohol that could have effected the partakers. While her eye was more trained to recognize organic compounds or microorganisms, she knew enough about the basic composition to recognize if something was off.

Damn, Kyle mused to himself. He turned to Lieutenant McMorran, “Well ma’am, there goes one theory. Might I suggest that I go to check the Security feed of the XO’s quarters, that’s our next best theory?”

-Cadet Kyle Anders: Security-

“Mmm”, Aili hummed with a finger raised. “We should stick together for now, we can’t be sure what expertise this investigation will require. Here!” She beckoned Anders over to a large wall display near the quarters’ doors. The display came to life, its light catching the thick wisps of steam that floated around the room. A quick tapping in of the CSO’s authorisation code later, a typical security display took over the screen. “Do what you can from here, for now.” She flashed a smile to Anders before brushing past him as she returned to see what T’Mor had found.

Lt. J.G. Aili McMorran - CSO

Kyle appreciated the apparent support he was recieving from the Cheif Science Officer. He took a close look at the security interface before issuing the first command:
“Computer, bring up the security feed from the XO’s quarters for the past 12 hours, beginning at Time Index 7211.” As the feed began to play back, Kyle watched intently, waiting for the smallest of clues.

-Cadet Kyle Anders: Security-

As Anders watched the security feed around 8 PM at night the door to the hot tub room opens but no one enters. The door closes and then an hour later the door opens again and Pey can be seen standing outside. The door closes again and then nothing. Absolutely nothing for twelve hours before suddenly on the feed the security detail opens the door and sees the XO trying to administer first aid to the naked ensign. The video had been tampered with, clearly, and expertly. It would probably take someone with engineering know how to recover the lost information.

Kyle turned to Lieutenant McMorran, “It looks like someone’s mucked about with the security feed ma’am. Permission to transfer the information to Engineering for analysis?” Admittedly, Anders was unsure whether he needed to report the incident to Lieutenant Rainns first, but he also had a feeling that he would be rewarded for taking the initiative.

-Cadet Kyle Anders: Security-

McMorran swivelled efficiently from T’Mor to Rainns. “Mucked about with it…” Internally Aili was considering the implications and the ins and outs of who would have that capability. Suppressing those questions for now, both knowing that others would set to work to crack them and that she didn’t want to draw the minds of the cadets to these questions, she responded plainly. “Go ahead. Notify engineering of what they’re recieving.”

A few seconds of her eyes shooting left and right followed as she considered her next move. She then tapped her combadge and spoke up in monotone. =^=McMorran to Rainns. It may be relevant for you to know that the security feed of the XO’s quarters appears to have been compromised.=^=

Lt. J.G. Aili McMorran - CSO

OOC: If Anders goes ahead and speaks to engineering, crosspost the message into the Engineering thread in the same way I have this one to the Security Office thread. :)

-Jamie

Anders smirked as he noticed that McMorran was not confused by the Britishism he had just used. He tapped his combadge:
=^=Anders to Engineering, I am sending the security feed from Commander Holmann’s quarters, it appears to have been tampered with.=^=

Cadet Kyle Anders: Security

T’Mor looked over from her work towards McMorran with a slightly puzzled look.

“Mucked about with it, Lieutenant?” she asked, “I assume that is some kind of idiom?”
