“We’re all adults here and one would expect a certain amount of discipline from both officers and enlisted crew. But what rules do you think would help?” It was a seemingly innocuous conversation but it was helping Liadra get a feel for the CSO’s mindset and that often as not helped future interactions.

For as casual as this conversation seemed to be, the Andorian was somewhat skeptical as to what information Liadra was attempting to achieve from her. Shaking herself of the perhaps rude thought, she adjusted herself. “Common sense rules, really. Anything that would make certain that people know what they are to expect, behavior-wise. Of course, having fun is necessary, in some cases, but fun, too, is a chaos. And chaos needs some kind of organization.”

“Ahh, but common sense presumes you’re working from the same set of mores and expectations. But in the Federation there are so many different cultures with different ways of being that what is common to one culture is completely opposite or even abhorrent to another. How do you reconcile that?” Liadra asked.

Lt. Cmdr. Liadra, CNS

“You don’t.” Eshrallias informed, “To an Andorian, their perception of polite tableside manners might be quite antithesis to a human or a a Vulcan, yes. However, there does seem to be a universal constant, in Starfleet, for people respecting one another; acting appropriately when the time calls for it; and being courteous to people and whatever you may be working with. Each, of course, perhaps confusing to a species that does not natural call for similar morals. Although, it seems most of these people are aware of what Starfleet— Or I should truly say: humans, find to be ethical. It would probably be best to go off what the majority knows to ensure minimal confusion.”

“Well, I think the minimum standard we all can expect here is that we’re in Starfleet, so there are minimum expectations of conduct.” Liadra exhaled and then smiled. “Let’s say there is some chaos that happens, I suspect that we as senior officers on this ship can handle it, don’t you?” she said pointedly. She almost had a full enough picture of the CSO in her mind and while she doubted she’d actually participate in whatever theatrical event took place, Liara hoped she’d at least be there to watch.

“Senior Officers? I have no doubt.” Eshrallias remarked, clasping her hands together. She wondered just how many of the Senior Officers would be apt to showing up to such an event. Would they be repelled by its perhaps immature status? Or would they find it welcome relief to the chaos of their everyday lives? As a scientist, Vheris was fascinated by this prospect, and it would likely be the only reason she attended.
