Marlene grinned. “I certainly do.” She downed the remainder of her drink, and called over the bartender, motioning that he bring two glasses. He nodded and then returned shortly with two glasses of the brown liquid she had been drinking.

“I insist you share some of this with me,” She said, sliding one of the drinks over to Liadra. “This is from my own personal stash. It’s a maple flavored bourbon.” She became more serious. “And if you tell another soul about my authentic alcohol stores I will slip itching powder into your food.” She gave the other woman a wink.

“Death by itching. What an unpleasant way to go,” the Denobulan said with a quiet laugh, genuinely amused. “But sure, I shall try some. Just don’t ask me to finish it if I don’t like it.”

Liadra eyed the drink and took a cautious sip. It was strong, that much was certain, but there was a slight sweetness to it she wasn’t expecting. “I’m not sure if I like it, but I don’t dislike it either.”

“So, ask me questons,” The green skinned doctor said, after a sip of her drink, her edge seemingly gone. “That is what you counselors are so good at.”

“Questions are just one means to get to know a person. A decent therapist is able to use the many unspoken ways of communication to gather information too.” Liadra smirked. “It really depends on the motive of the question-asking. What am I trying to achieve? Is that the best way way to reach that goal? Is it in the best interest of the person before me? But I’ll indulge you at the moment and ask one, or more, depending on your answer,” she said with a wide grin.

Eyeing Marlene, Liadra became a tiny bit more serious. “What worries you about people knowing about your file?”

Lt. Cmdr. Liadra, CNS

Marlene chuckled. “Nothing really worries me. As I said before, the file is accurate. However…” She let the word trail off, taking a sip of her drink before continuing. “Some people aren’t too keen to have a Chief Medical Officer who enjoys pure alcohol so much and is known to have a temper and has on occasion gotten into physical altercations.”

The green skinned woman looked over at Liadra and gave a proud grin.

Liadra simply smiled and shrugged. “Ah well, then that’s their problem, isn’t it?” she asked rhetorically, all the while seeming to assess Marlene with her gaze. “How often do you go out of your way to shock people?” she asked.

Lt. Cmdr. Liadra, CNS

Marlene smiled. “It comes naturally to me. Call it a special gift or talent of mine.” She gave a shrug. “I’ve got a bit of a temper at times, I’ll give you that. I’ve never been one to just sit idly by and let the weak be preyed upon by those who seek to take advantage. Call it a fire, a drive.” She returned the counselor’s gaze, meeting her eyes. “I don’t like to lose.” Then she downed the remainder of her drink and signaled for another.

Liadra grinned slightly. “It makes me want to ask you how you fared in the Kobayashi Maru simulation…” she said, her grin turning more into a smirk. She had her suspicions about how that might have gone, but if anything was true it was Marlene Judas was out to naturally surprise people.

Lt. Cmdr. Liadra, CNS

“I failed it several times,” Marlene said flatly, awaiting her drink. “Usually for overstepping the role and function of a medical officer on the Bridge during crisis.” She smiled. “I actually received high enough marks in tactical to be qualified as a bridge officer but as much as I enjoy blowing things up…” she gave Liadra a wink. “Saving lives brings me more pleasure.” The bartender returned with her drink and she held it aloft, silently toasting the good conversation.
