Marlene smiled. “It comes naturally to me. Call it a special gift or talent of mine.” She gave a shrug. “I’ve got a bit of a temper at times, I’ll give you that. I’ve never been one to just sit idly by and let the weak be preyed upon by those who seek to take advantage. Call it a fire, a drive.” She returned the counselor’s gaze, meeting her eyes. “I don’t like to lose.” Then she downed the remainder of her drink and signaled for another.

Liadra grinned slightly. “It makes me want to ask you how you fared in the Kobayashi Maru simulation…” she said, her grin turning more into a smirk. She had her suspicions about how that might have gone, but if anything was true it was Marlene Judas was out to naturally surprise people.

Lt. Cmdr. Liadra, CNS

“I failed it several times,” Marlene said flatly, awaiting her drink. “Usually for overstepping the role and function of a medical officer on the Bridge during crisis.” She smiled. “I actually received high enough marks in tactical to be qualified as a bridge officer but as much as I enjoy blowing things up…” she gave Liadra a wink. “Saving lives brings me more pleasure.” The bartender returned with her drink and she held it aloft, silently toasting the good conversation.

“So you never did the simulation as the one in Command?” Liadra asked curiously. It was usually how it was run, to test leadership ability, but she also knew that the testers were not afraid to shake things up as needed.

Marlene shook her head. “I was never qualified enough to take the command training courses. Over the years they added in little sub tests to the simulations like the Kobayashi Maru for the other departments to see how they fared in a crisis situation. For me, it was always gonna be becoming a doctor.”

Feeling relaxed and enjoying the conversation, the Denobulan leaned one arm on the bar top. “I almost became a doctor, but psychology drew my attention more deeply. Still, I like to make sure I keep my medic training up to date, because I too want to make sure I can be as useful as I can however I’m needed.”

Marlene smiled. “Feel free to stop by Sickbay anytime and I’ll put you to work and keep that training up to date for you.”

Captain Johnson walked into the lounge at that moment and headed over to the bar. “Scotch, neat, no ice,” he said. As he waited for his drink he looked around the lounge, and nodded in greeting to Liadra and Judas.

Looking over and seeing the Captain, Marlene smiled. “Well look who it is!” She said loudly, more than enough for him to hear.
