The screen lit up in Eshrallias’ office. A bald, blue Bolian woman of advanced age squinted into the screen. She knocked on the display. =^= Hello, did I get through? These newfangled gadgets. =^= By her appearance and wrinkles she looked not unlike a withered grape that was not helped by the crisp white lab coat that she wore that bore a Commander’s pips almost as an afterthought. =^= Lota here. Fleet Science. Now that is not Lota as in ‘lowtah’ but ‘lotta’. But have I got a mission spec for you! =^= She peered into the screen again. =^=If there is someone there. =^=
- Cmdr Lota, Fleet Science Division

=/\=I am here, Commander.=/\= Eshrallias had watched as the Commander struggled with the technology before her. It did not so much as elicit a smile from the Lieutenant, who seemed somewhat sympathetic to the case. Studying the Bolian woman, who made great emphasis on the nature of her name’s pronunciation, she leaned forwards, as to make certain Lota could see her. =/\=I am listening, Commander Lota.=/\= She pronounced the name as closely as her slight accent would allow, but managed something more along the lines of ‘law-teh.’

Lota leaned in too and squinted. Satisfied that Eshrallias was there she gave a grandmotherly grin. =^= Oh Lt I envy you in this mission. Science on steroids. The place, Craxus III is like the Galapagos. So much good stuff there. The SeaHawk is a science ship. Sure it does exploration and it does experiments and such. All that hush hush stuff. Oh you didn’t hear that from me. =^= She waved a think blue hand dismissively. =^= Fleet has two digs going on archaeologically. The sea life there is amazing. The system itself is a jigsaw puzzle just waiting to be figured out. But I diverge. Yes, it’s a Bolian thing. So out of all that I have something challenging for you, and, alternatively something rather more mundane provided that you have time and people. The latter is to assist in a kind of persistent barnacle issue that the SeaHawk gets. The former is much more interesting. There are creatures there - whales but big. They travel only in large pods and they emanate a kind of ‘interference’ signal that gets in the way of transmissions and transports and even interfere with power. A kind of bubble as it were. What we’d like you to do is to figure out how to, and implement, a way to tag at least one of them - that way the SeaHawk can plot where they are and either navigate around or schedule around them. How’s that for catching the big fish, Lt? =^=

=^=Alas, I admit. I have never fished before, in any sense of the word.=^= Eshrallias leaned back for a second, considering what she was saying. Creatures larger than whale? What breed of whale? Regardless if it were larger than the ancient Blue Whale, or the Humpback, or whatever it might be, something larger than a whale was undeniably impressive and worthy of study. Of course, it wasn’t as if Eshrallias would be studying these mammals, rather helping track them so somebody can. =^=It seems a nice challenge for my officers and I to work on. After all, I doubt any of us have dealt with animals that give off interference towards inanimate objects. Of course, there are a few known to us, creatures larger than the Terran whale? Now that, Madam, is fascinating.=^= There was excitement behind her cool demeanor. Of course, it wasn’t that much of an interesting task, and she doubted it would prove a scientific dilemma, but the sheer hope of being able to gain more information on these creatures, once they can be tracked, was exciting. =^=I am more than willing to assist them with this. Although, I do ask, will Endeavour be given any information on these creatures? If they can emanate that kind of interference, they have to be interesting life forms.=^= It was the biologist biologist talking in her.
