A transmission came through marked for the Chief Engineer. It was from a Commander Heinrich Muller, of the Corps of Engineers. This was a recording that the CE could get when he came in. He had a distinct Germanic accent, was bald with strong features on a broad body that strained his uniform. He looked like he may hit a boxing ring after his shifts.

=^= Chief, I have some news for you on your next mission. Besides straining your storage spaces and cluttering up your shuttle bay, you will have some unique issues in this Craxus system. Craxus III is a mainly water world with properties that has a pervasive way of breaking down anything replicated. What is more the heavy metal content of the seas has a way of infringing on communications and transporters. What you bring down will need to be not replicated - that means uniforms, tools, weapons and so on. Since most things now have a wide component of replicated components any visitations to this world have to be prepared. Your task is to assist the engineers on the Seahawk to deploy a new series of advance drones that assist in their sensors. As well, their ‘dock’ requires a repair. I’m sure you may have questions. Contact me when you are able. I’ve read your repair lists and know you are double shifting to get fixed up. =^=

Ang had gone to the to change tunics when the comm terminal blinking light caught her attention. Tapping the button to the message as she changed, the half Klingon spat out several explatives, compliments of her mom human heritage. “Non replicated?” Shaking her head, she tucked her undershirt in and pulled the fresh tunic top down. So much for going to the bridge.

She headed out of her quarters and went straight to engineering. Once there she called for the nearest NEs. “Need you to go thru the Away Team bags and the emergency repair crates. We need to be sure the tools, and materials have little to no replicated content in them.” Her hand went up to silence the complaints soon as they popped up. “I know, I know… But orders are orders. The planet we are going to dissolves replicated matter. That’s all you need to know. Now git to it!”

Her gruffness didn’t reach her eyes and the guys nodded with understanding looks. Orders were orders and they’d follow them. She hadn’t been there long, but whoever the previous Chief had been, they’d learned to run a tight section.

She then headed into her office to compile a list of things they might need for the surface. Perhaps there was a set of tools and gear somewhere, maybe in a cargo bay, used for resetting replication patterns. They wouldn’t be replicated, she hoped.

One of the elements to the mission, beyond assisting in deploying a series of new drones (which, as Ang could see was located in the cargo bay) was that of repairing a dock. It was anti-grav technology, and the latest diagnostics that could be determined was that a minor component in them may have had replicated items in it which had been missed. This in turn had generated further issues. Currently the eight anti-grav units on the dock were operating between 83 and 18 percent. The waves on Craxus III could be considerable and the dock was was in danger of being destroyed. It was used as a ‘base’ of delivery and rendezvous with the Seahawk.

=^= CPO Keith to Lt To’kar. =^= Ang was the stores chief petty officer, a plump but dedicated girl who managed loading on the last cargo pretty well. =^= One of your engineers has been sniffing around here asking about non replicated materials. The Starbase has provided some equipment for you. If you like to come down I could show you what there is. =^=

=^= On my way, Chief=^= Ang said and made her way to the Chief.
Entering the room, Ang smiled. “So we need to try and have ‘non replicated’ tools and materials. Otherwise, from what I hear, it may disintegrate in the coming years. Go figure.” She said. “So, what do we have to work with and what do I have to make do with?”

Bobbi met her. Her hair was short and bobbed and of a nondescript brown color that surrounded a rounded face that matched her general physique. “Hi Chief,” she said, tucking her oversized PaDD under one arm. She gave a small shrug with her other shoulder. “We could just pretend we were going down to a Betazed wedding and settle it there. Been to a few. They can be fun.”

Clearing her throat she led Ang into the cargo bay. It was, to use a word, stuffed. “They have quite a bit of things to bring down and aboard by the look of it. From desks to toilets to knitting needles. And wool. Over here is what we have for clothes.” They wound through narrow aisles until they came to one far wall. Clothes racks were there and it was a full line of uniforms from one wall to the other. “These are all ‘off the rack’ from what I hear. I understand that the SeaQuest has tailors aboard to fit these. Uh, apart from those packaged ones there. Senior officers already done.” She pointed to one engineer who was fussing through the racks. “That’s him. And from what I was told it was weeks, not years for them to start falling apart.”

Ang sighed. “Weeks? Worlds and stars…” She took a deep breath and nodded. “Ok… So all this,” she indicated everything in the bay, “has to go down. Now, can we beam down? Or is that reconstructive moment turn it into something that will become ‘mush’ by the time we leave?” When the Chief motioned to someone going thru the racks, she nodded and smiled at him, her voice raising slightly to get his attention. “So you get to help with the mass delivery?” If he was part of it all, she’d put this to work. Otherwise, her could leave… Or be put to work. Least, that was her thought on the matter.

Bobbi nodded. “All of it, plus a couple dozen relief crew along with it.” She looked at her notes. “Nothing in here to say that one can’t transport down. But there is a caveat to ensure that there isn’t any ‘whale pods’ around as that apparently interferes.” She looked up and shrugged. “Whatever that means. There was a note to work this out with the SeaHawk.”

The person at the racks stopped and approached them. “Ma’am?”

((sorry, missed this))

Ang sighed and looked around. “Ok, so this all has to go to the surface. We need to get in touch with the ‘SeaHawk’ and make sure their pods aren’t around. Don’t want the ecosystem messed up cause of technology.” At the confusion on her companion’s face, she shrugged. “I know a bit of useless stuff. Like the fact a ‘pod’ is a group of whales. Anything having to do with frequencies can sometimes mess them up. Whales have a type of natural sonar. So if we beam down near them, the transporter frequencies can have adverse reactions. Many animals are affected. But anything in the water usually suffers worse. Something to do with amplification in the water.” She waited for the woman to freak out at her knowledge, many did. But when learning engineering, one of the things she studied was its affects on animals and people. From warp speeds to microwaves. it was a bit of a hobby that, apparently, ‘did’ have a purpose in real life situations.

Bobbi smiled. It was a cute smile that went to her eyes. “But it’s the useless information that is often the most interesting. At the academy during ‘mechanical physics’ classes we used to play a ‘tell me something I don’t know’ game. Kept us awake.” She paused. “Wonder if the whales affect the SeaHawk too.”

“So, let’s get it all set in clusters and prepare to beam it down.” She tapped her comm badge, =^= Engineering, this is To’kar… I need three able bodies to the hanger to help prepare cargo for transport.=^= She awaited the response and smiled. “Well, that’s done. Time to tell the bridge.”

“I can certainly put them to work,” Bobbie said, flipping through her oversized PaDD at the inventory.

=^=Bridge, this is To’kar… inventory ready for prep for transport to the surface. We just need to contact the ‘SeaHawk’ and make arrangements.=^= She wasn’t sure when they were going to be on site, but getting messages done as much as possible now made things easier once they ‘were’ there.
