Kanto was not looking forward to this. With the pains he was feeling, it was possible that they were psychological in nature. If they were, then the counselor would be able to read him like an open book, as the humans say. According to the ship manifest, the counselor was a Denobulan. That was intriguing, and it relieved him a little. Since she wasn’t an empath, she would not be able to feel the conflict within him.

As he approached the door, Kanto stood up straight, and tried to appear stoic. He tapped the chime.

“Enter!” a cheery voice sounded through the door’s comm.

Inside, the small office wasn’t oppressively so, and there was a sitting area (a small sofa and a couple slim armchairs) tucked on one side across from the desk where another chair was opposite where she worked. On the wall above the sitting area was a moderate sized painting that was clearly abstract with washes of yellows, blues and greys. Beside her desk was a large leafy dark green plant with a single stalk of trumpet shaped flowers in a vivid violet.

“Cadet Kanto, reporting for psychological evaluation in respect to his duties aboard the USS Endeavour.”

The Denobulan woman had a curious shade of pale pink to her hair normally light brown hair, which was pulled over one shoulder and secured with an oval-shaped glossy black clip. Looking up at the door, her grey eyes held warmth as she smiled. “Well, Cadet Kanto, do come on in and join me and we can get to know one another a bit better,” she said, gesturing to the sofa and setting the PADD she had been reading on a side table.

“Tell me about your studies and what is the most intriguing thing you have learned so far,” Liadra said, intentionally setting the tone for their conversation.
