Kanto regarded her with a new appreciation. “I misjudged you, lieutenant, and I apologize. Throughout my time in the Academy leading to this cruise, and I suppose even before it to some degree, I have learned that there is always someone to ‘test’ me. Other cadets who tried to tear through my ‘stoic nature’, as they called it, and try to provoke some emotional response. My father has always tested my limits, and T’Lyr has tested my resolve. I am appreciative that you have not. Thank you.”

Liadra smiled and shook her head slightly. “I only mention it to perhaps offer the opportunity to shift this meeting and allow you to see it as an opportunity.” She was legitimately never offended by the assumptions people made about her work or the lengths they would go to avoid being evaluated. But with each one she saw an opportunity, and if she could help the other see the same, then she would go out of her way to allow that to happen.

“If you do not mind my asking a question,” he continued, “Is my evaluation acceptable?”

OOC: Apologies for the typos! Normally I catch them before I hit submit, lol. And go ahead and snip again- it’s good to get into the practice of it.
IC:
“I see no reason why you won’t be cleared for duty. That being said, I think it’s worthwhile to continue our conversation. You are, after all, in science, and wouldn’t you say that it is logical to explore different ways of seeing things?

Lt. Cmdr. Liadra, CNS

“Eminently logical, of course, counselor,” Kanto began. “What would you like to know?” He appreciated Liadra’s candor with him, and he felt no reason not to be thorough and honest with her. In the end, it might actually help him reconcile the emotional part of his Vulcan heritage.

“Oh, there’s all sorts of things I could ask, but I’m going to ask a very stereotypical Counsellor questions right now. I hope you don’t mind,” she said in a teasing voice.

“Go ahead,” the cadet prompted.

Considering Kanto for a moment, Liadra smiled. “What do you do when you’re not working? What sorts of hobbies to you find yourself drawn to?”

Lt. Cmdr. Liadra, CNS

“Hobbies? I do not really have any, per se,” Kanto replied, obviously uncomfortable with the question. “After work, I eat, read up on the latest science updates, and meditate. I have engaged in the occasional game of three-dimensional chess and kal toh, if that is what you mean?”
