Kanto thought for a moment, remembering the crew manifest he so recently studied, “I believe that there are a few likely candidates aboard who would be qualified to oversee the meld. The chief doctor would be the primary choice, but I believe Cadet Barvan, as a full Betazoid, would be ideal as he would be able to monitor at a telepathic level.”

His chagrin wore deeply on his face as he spoke of To’kar in such a way. It was entirely possible that she could very well have been capable of keeping them close to their sanity if the situation tool a turn for the worst. But that was not his intention. He knew himself better than that and understood enough of what Kanto had said about probing his thoughts. If the Lieutenant was to be involved, so too would his stronger impulses and urges he didn’t wish to become more observable then they already have been.

Forcing himself away from her direction, Rexar pulled his hand across his face then stopped abruptly halfway.

“Computer. Theoretically, if we were to conduct an experiment involving telepathy or telepathic studies. Of the listed personnel on board, which of them would most qualify to assist us?”

Cdt. Rexar Omtala (Engineer)

“That person will likely be me,” a voice entering the room would state confidently.

The source of that voice (Cadet Barvan) would then enter the room. The tall, very thin yet muscular Betazoid would enter the area.

Cadet Kanto turned toward the source of the voice, his eyebrow arching as he noticed that it was the Cadet he had specifically mentioned.

“I’m the best telepath you have on this ship, given the CNS is indisposed. My academic records as a former teaching assistant in telepathics and interrogation at the Starfleet Academy in my senior year mixed with my telepathy competition wins on Betazed prove it. You don’t need Computer’s help to ascertain that.”

It might have seemed completely out of place for a Cadet to enter a conversation with this level of bravado, but he was talking to a fellow Cadet, so it could be seen as justified. He’d then proceed to make perfect piercing eye contact with Cadet Omtala only to then analyze his surface thoughts and memories using said telepathy abilities that were just mentioned.

Cadet Barvan, Security

Kanto observed Barvan with a stoic resolve as he responded. “Fascinating. It is a pleasure to meet you, Cadet Barvan.”

Cadet Kanto, Science

“I heard something about Vulcans and melding just before I came into the conversation. I propose myself to monitor the procedure. I’ve done it half a dozen times.”

Cadet Barvan, Security

“If it is alright with Cadet Omtala, I have no problems with it,” Kanto answered.

Cadet Kanto, Science

“Yes I believe this is our best possible chance to communicate effectively with the entity.”

He looked about himself sure of the task at hand and confident with those that stood before him. Then in a light, breathy voice he further explained.

“Remember gentlemen, our purpose its make ourselves open to contact. Follow the prime directive, be vigilant and above all we have a duty to this ship and crew.”

“Understood sir,” Barvan would reply. “I am ready to begin monitoring the procedure. Commence whenever you’re ready.” As he uttered the word “ready”, he’d focus on both the Vulcan and the two Starfleet officers engaging in the meld procedure, compartmentalizing all three sentients into three parts and watching them like a mental security cam center. This was part of his training, and his high level of proficiency with telepathy allowed him to do so.

Stepping closely towards Kanto. Rexar let his shoulders slope to the floor, his hands release and his eyes close softly.

Rexar Omtala (Engineer)

Cadet Barvan, Security

Kanto leaned in towards Rexar and placed the fingers of his right hand on the Andorian’s face in the appropriate spots, his thumb on the chin, his forefinger by the nose and the following fingers arranged by the temple. He lost himself into the trance as he repeated the mantra, “My mind to your mind. My thoughts to your thoughts. Our minds are one.” He repeated this over and over until he couldn’t even hear himself repeat it…

Ang had rifled thru the list of those able to answer questions and found several possibilities. Messaging the subsequent rooms, she left messages that they were to come to Cargo Bay to help with the cargo to be transferred. She didn’t leave any other facts.

Ang
CE (outgoing)

The ranking crewman, a short redfaced man in his 30’s, bald, apparently by choice but with a stiff, short shovel like beard, responded to the call. He, a Lt jg, by the name of Nathan Hess approached Ang. “You Ang, sir?” he asked. “Are you coordinating the transfers?” Which, it seemed was what Hess thought Ang was doing. He bore the colors of science.
