SNIP

Nathan gave Ang a long stare which in some circles could imply ‘crickets’ … but then a recollection came to him as he looked at the containers. “Oh. Those are them?” His gaze fixed on them. “An entity?” He shook his head and flushed a little redder as if in embarrassment. “Sorry Lt. I know there were classified containers coming down for experimental research in the science division, but what they are? I don’t know. That would be Cap’n of the SeaHawk who could possibly tell you. My understanding is they are to be received by him. It may be related to a project they are working on there. An AI project called Hollowhead.” He gestured to the crates. “But what’s in there? I have no clue.”
-Hess

.. then, as soon as Hess said the word Hollowhead .. whatever it was ceased. Retreated. Vanished.

Barvan remained focused on everyone in the room. His ability to monitor all sentients in the room was good, and he looked out for anything fishy…

… which happened just as Hess said “Hollowhead”. He detected that, whatever it was, it had ceased being. He kept focusing on the experiment, but this was odd and a slight expression of fear and concern could be detected on his face.

The silence began to stagnate a vapid wasteland of eternal hush. No colour, without scent or sound. Black, starless night. An infinite void of the sensations of existence now that the life force has closed its aura of energy to him. Spiraling into the unknown a strange fear trickled down as Rexar subconsciously lashed out with raw, unabated instinct.

Out. I want out!”

To watch the mind locked Andorian would have been a sight to behold. Quiet and unmoving, Rexar began to shiver and stir. A twitch in the hand or a shutter of the body could be seen as he slowly started to wake from his dreamscape. Yet with the power of Kanto’s trained thoughts and strength of control, he wouldn’t be able to do it alone.

Rexar Omtala (Engineer)

The two appeared locked together, but Kanto knew that it would be hard to communicate with the entity without Rexar’s help. He tried to find the connection… where Rexar ended and the entity began. “Rexar, I need your help…” he thought with all his might, then he aimed his thoughts toward the entity. “What are you? What.. do.. you.. want??”

Cadet Kanto, Science

The best that Kanto was able to ‘feel’ was a withdrawing essence, not even a presence, rather like having caught a faint scent of something and then it was gone leaving him wondering what it was and if he was imagining it. If it had found some connection with Rexar, it did not really find an interest in Kanto.

…and this would be something likely only a sentient of Barvan’s level of training could pull off. Immediately upon hearing the Andorian flailing verbally, he began to analyze the connection between Kanto and Omtala, looking for an opening to snap him out of it.

Ang frowned. “Hollowhead? Interesting,” she glanced to the crates then back to the man before her. “I will reach out to them. Thank you. Make sure you have all your items checked and ready for transport as soon as possible.” She nodded with the dismissal and tapped her comm when he was gone. =^= Captain… we need to reach out to the SeaHawk and the accepting officers. Seems they are aware of the cargo contents and we need verification of the contents before we move them. Happy to discuss in person if need be.=^= The woman wasn’t sure how much the Captain wanted on open comms.

Kanto eased Rexar out of the mind meld and felt fairly groggy after the attempt. He had not been able to contact the creature, whatever it was, and for some reason it only wanted to deal with the Andorian. “Rexar, are you alright?” he asked as he took his fingers away from the face of the Andorian.

Cadet Kanto, Science

Barvan was monitoring both Kanto and Omtala as the science cadet eased him out of the telepathic procedure. He was looking for any evidence whatsoever of any kind of mental stress that might lead to damage.

Rexar slumped up against Kanto falling into him covered in his own sweat. Numb and shaking, the trembling Andorian faltered to stand and braced upon the science officer to hold himself from buckling under his own weight. The muscles in his arms and legs strained as he push himself to his feet, eyes blurred a haze around him. Trying to piece together the memory of this bizarre encounter. A fog of thoughts melted in his mind as he grumbled, speaking in a breathy voice.

Kanto helped Rexar regain his balance, easing him to a standing position. “The entity?” he asked.

“It’s gone.”

Turning about the bay to see clearly those around him. Rexar coughed and wiped the sweat from his brow. Throbbing headaches pounded against the walls of his skull, staggering as stood holding a hand to his head. Pressing his temples to control the pain.

“So desperate, misery. I can’t explain it at all. I must speak with the lieutenant right away.”

Panting a breaths to regain himself. The shaken engineer walked away abruptly to find his DH with someone he hadn’t seen before.

Kanto arched an eyebrow as the junior lieutenant made his way across the cargo bay.

“Lieutenant. Can I speak with you a moment?”

He waited for her signal then stepped back a few paces and spoke quietly.

“I couldn’t learn much Lieutenant. The connection between the essence and myself was severed before we we’re able established any sort of real communication. It just seemed to disappear. There a moment, gone the next. I can’t say more than that.”

Rexar Omtala (Engineer)

It was an interesting experience, Kanto thought. The mind meld was not something he used lightly, and it was unfortunate that he could not gain a personal insight into this entity. But as a Starfleet officer, it was his duty to help wherever he could. He waited, silently hoping there was something else he could do.
