The team materialized on a jagged shard of planetoid. Under their boots it looked to be a mixture of dirty ice and rock giving it a mottled uneven look. Gravity was minimal and the team could see the edges of the planetoid/asteroid from where they were. Some thirty meters away was the remains of two prospector ships, still attached at their bows. One of them was spewing a kind of plasma steam; each had rents in their hulls from the collision with the asteroid. That one was where the life signs were.

The prospector ships were large, stripped down, reconfigured runabouts that were adapted for the job at hand. Neither were pretty - even before the collision and crash. On the bow of the one with the survivors in gaudy gold paint was painted the word ‘GOLDDIG’ .. with the last of the name crumpled.

Torias instantly took a look around the ship they had materalized on and noted that there was plasma steam coming out of one of the ships. Seeing them, he activated his commlink in his suit. “Let’s get to work, and stay alert,” the chief said, leading the group towards the golddigger, keeping an eye out for any dangers along the way.

Lieutenant (J.G) Torias Paron, CoS

“Whoa.” Exclaimed seeing the harsh environment and the two ships wrecks.
It was the first time for Oliver inside an EVA suit, but for him it was an amazing experience.
After the order gave by the CoS, Kai left the pattern enhancers near a bulk rock and took the tricorder.
After wandering a bit around the ships, Kai could already tell the composition of the asteroid and tapping his badge communicated the results to the CoS. =^= Cadet Kai, to Lieutenant Paron. Apparently the asteroid is made for the majority of tritium, raw iron and copper. I register medium quantities of gold and platinum too. =^= taking a moment to walk around to search others possible signals, a strong fluctuation was detected at 12 meters away from the Goldigger =^= Sir. I detect energy fluctuations around the Goldigger that is interfering with the transporter functioning and ability to lock the life forms signals. =^=
Those weird readings, were confusing the young Cadet.

Cadet Kai O. Kingstone - Scientist

=/\=That would explain why we weren’t able to beam them over. Any clues as to the source of the fluctuations, cadet?=/\= Paron asked. He never underestimated having a science officer on an away team and the insights they provided. The fluctuations made sense, but they still needed more information.

Liuetenant (J.G) Torias Paron, CoS

Oliver crouched and started scanning the terrain: In some spot the energy fluctuations were unevenly strong, somewhere else a bit weaker. Still, the Cadet could not formulate a valid conclusion.
=^= for now, I’m not certain. The irregular levels of the fluctuations makes the readings pretty hard. I suppose that underneath there’s a mineral or a crystal sediment that is reacting with the plasma flow. =^=
If his theory was correct, the sealing of the breach should have stopped the fluctuations.

Cadet Kai O. Kingstone - Scientist

As K’Resh beamed down to join the team she took a quick look around and saw the team up ahead. Striding over to join the team she immediately noticed the plasma steam and tutted. =^= That needs sealing, unless anyone is particularly keen to experience a plasma burn…? =^= she asked bluntly as she looked around the fresh faced cadets. She stopped herself for a moment, remembering that for most of these Cadets it was their first mission so she softened her voice and made an attempt at a smile. =^= Apologies, I should introduce myself, I’m Lt K’Resh, the new chief engineer… =^= she added in a gentler tone and stuck her hand out to anyone who wanted to shake it.

Lt K’Resh (CE)

“Klingons..” thought Kai, not to disrespect his superior, he just feared them a bit.
=^= it is okey, ma’am. I’m Cadet Kingstone.=^= said Kai with a discouraged and trembling tone.
After presenting himself to the CE, Kai tapped again is badge:
=^= Cadet Kai to Mr. Paron, we may ask the miners what minerals or crystal they were excavating. Maybe they know what there’s underneath. =^=
Oliver kept scanning, in silence and uncomfortable by the presence of the new CE, awaiting for the respond of the CoS.

Cadet Kai O. Kingstone - Scientist

=/\=The lifesigns we detected were pretty weak, and I believe communication has been an issue, so we’ll have to get in first=/\= Paron responds through his comms. Turning to K’Resh he nodded =/\=Think you can deal with that leak?=/\= he asks the engineer.

Lieutenant (J.G) Torias Paron, CoS

K’Resh gave a quick flash of annoyance as she stared at the CoS. =/\= Of course. =/\= she replied a little gruffly as she started examining the area, muttering something unintelligible in Klingon under her breath.

Kai silently nodded to his boss, starting to search the bulkhead to access the ship: one was on the port side of the ship, but was high ground and unaccessible without any heavy tools due some wrecks blocking the way.
The badge chirped as he tapped it.
=^= Cadet Kai to Mr. Paron. I’ve found one of the docking port’s bulkhead, port side, but It will be difficult as it is high ground and blocked by excess materials. We may consider a secondary entrance point, or try to force the bulkhead.=^=
In the meanwhile, Oliver would still walk around to find a possible secondary infiltration point, but seemingly, at a first look there were no others.

Cadet Kai O. Kingstone - Scientist

As the ship was scanned better it became more likely that what was causing the interference was a hull breach in the underside of the Golddigger. The impulse fusion engine was leaking deuterium and that, combined with a nearby plasma leak was generating a reaction. It was potentially very close to setting off an uncontrolled reaction that would destroy everything and possibly even the asteroid.

The primary bulkhead was blocked; a secondary one on the side of the vessel was not, though the hull had crumpled in that area and it would need to be cut or otherwise worked to gain entry there.

The leak in question was part and parcel of the one reacting with the deuterium., though it appeared that it was a separate leak and not the one in concern. That was either going to be inaccessible or able to be contained from within the Golddigger itself.

K’Resh peered at the leak and sighed. =/\= I don’t think I can get access to stem the leak from here, I’ll need to have a look once we’re inside. =/\= she said as she did what she could to stabilise the areas she could get to.

Lt K’Resh (CE)

Whilst the other members of the away team went about their work Buckingham stood a little further back from them, so as to not get in their way. He stood with a Med Kit in his right hand down at his side and a Medical Tricorder raised in his left. He continued to monitor the life signs inside of the crashed vessel.

Lt. (J.G) Thomas Buckingham - CMO

=^= Mr. Paron?=^= exclaimed walking toward the second bulkhead =^= sir! There’s a secondary airlock here! But the hull is crumpled and we will need a plasma cutter or the phasers.=^=
Checked his Tricorder and assured that no life-forms was inside the airlock, he took the torch to give a closer look if there was any leak of any gasses or dangerous liquid. None was found in the perimeter seemingly tight and still pressurized.
=^= Miss K’Resh? Can you come here with the cutter?=^=
Asked to the new Lieutenant, giving a look to the hull nearby.

Cadet Kai O. Kingstone - Scientist

K’Resh frowned at the Miss but dutifully made her way over to Kingstone. =^= I do not care for your human pronouns, Lt or K’Resh will be sufficient. =^= she replied with a slight air of annoyance. =^= Do you know how to use this instrument Cadet or do you require my assistance? =^= she asked as she handed the plasma cutter to him.

Lt K’Resh (CE)

As he was a bit frightened to have called her Miss, he was then reassured by the calm behavior of the CE. He looked a second to the plasma cutter and said =^=Plasma Cutter for industrial usage. Has a modernized regulation system with buttons and gauge for the fuel. Yep, I used something older but should do.=^= As he nodded taking the cutter and turning it on.
He would carefully start cutting the frame of the airlock, while a feeble stream of gasses exited the empty corridor.
=^= The airlock was unpressurized. I suggest using a force field to enter the ship.=^=
Told to Mr. Paron and K’Resh, while toggling the just cut door and then pointing a torch and the tricorder inside to inspect the conditions.

Cadet Kai O. Kingstone - Scientist

It was a small airlock, barely able to contain a person in a suit. What power buttons within that would control the doors that there were, they were dark. On the upside, the crumpling that was more evident on the hull was not present within.

At this point a beam could be felt from the nearby Endeavor. They had applied a tractor beam to the vessel, focused on the two ships. It was customized to be over the area of the ships, but anyone within that field, and still outside the ship would feel themselves pressed as though with a gravity field. On the upside leaping in joy was not going to set them off into space. On the downside it felt like a couple of gravities were pressing onto them.
