Walking the white corridors of the ship, the fast pace of Mr. Kingstone could be heard a section forward. Kai was nervous at the Idea to talk to better experienced Officers and lead a team to make his project real.
When he arrived to an intersection, he would stop and check his PaDD to remember where the NEs were: the first was NE Jeanna, who was the nearest from the intersection he was standing still. Restarting to walk in direction of the quarter, he held the PaDD under his arm pit, while his head a hundred of thousand of random thought were flowing back and forth.
It took nearly 20 seconds - as he deliberately took extra turns, but he was now in front of this door with the sign “Quarter 098”. Kai was indecisive if to press the button or go away, but as some kind magic felt on his hand, his finger tip pressed the button and a fading chirping was heard beyond the door. The time it took to NE Jeanna to open the door seemed endless and Kai was about to leave with steel nerves, but right before he turned away, the orange door slipped apart and a woman, apparently slightly older than him, with blonde hair and black eyes asked: “Hello? May I help you?”
In his opinion he would have said that she was good. But his courage slipped away with the door.
“A-Ah! Yes, A-Are you, NE Jeanna O’Connor?” He asked babbling
“Yes I am. What I can do for you?” She asked back to the younger man.
“I was sent by Mr. Kanto… Uhm, I need you for a project.” A brief silent moment. Enervating.
“Yes, sure. At what hour?”
“Uhm… 18:00? Is okey?” At that point he was driving crazy and his heartbeat was going up and down that fast, that even a cheetah had a slower heartbeat. But then the girl replied with a smiley okey and Kai, happily responded: “Great! I-I’ll see ya in the Lab 1, then.” Giggled right afterward.
Just before leaving the quarter, NE Jeanna winked to the Cadet, and consequently he blushed embarrassed while walking faster toward the other NE’s quarter.

After another 40 seconds - this time he got the wrong path for mistake, Kai arrived to another intersection. NE Peabody’s quarters was near a storage and for a moment, Oliver confused it for the quarters of the Ensign. He waited for 20 seconds still in front of the door, when the NE himself, that was entering his quarters in that moment, told Kai that was a storage room and asked what was doing in front of the door.
With a fast response, Kai tilted his head toward the NE and scratched his head: again it was embarrassing.
“Oh… I suppose you’re Mr. Peabody, right?” Asked the Cadet shyly
“Yes. I am, There’s something you need?” He asked back
“To be honest, yes… I need you for a project. Mr. Kanto sent me to take a crew.”
“Alright” he joyed “When it is the appointment?”
“18:00, Lab 1.” He said fast.
The NE nodded and entered the quarters, but just to remind the Cadet he told to Kai: “Better pay attention next time!”
Oliver took finally the turbolift to leave the deck, and while the elevator was taking him to the Lab to prepare his project, he said to himself: “Oh gosh. A really embarrassing performance. Congratulations Kai!” He sighed

Cadet Kai O. Kingstone - Scientist

18:00 O’Clock. Science Lab 1, Kai was already there awaiting for the two NE’s. At first he was sure of what he was going to do, but then, checking all the equipment and tools, doubt arises in the poor and genuine soul of the Cadet: “I have this, yes. The inter-phase relè is there… oh gosh, why I feel like I’m missing something?” He thought
One, two, three counted… there, one there, the one other in the other place. Seemed that everything was in the proper place and in order. But still he was double checking.
After a minute from the established time, both of the NEs entered the Lab excusing the Cadet for their lateness. Kai now had trembling hands as he was going to explain the root of the Project.
“Today- “ he suddenly blocked “Today we’re going to test to modify this sub-space communication relè, to send light particle in the subspace realm instead of the normal signal wave to increase its efficiency in transmissions.” He told the two NEs pointing the relè and a mysterious module. The Idea was complicated and no one really knew how to encode long datas through light: the challenge environment lit up NE Jeanna’s eyes while NE Peabody was already thinking on how to encode the information. NE Jeanna asked to the Cadet what was that module near the relè. As the question came through Kai’s ear, he, with joy and emphasis, explained that: “the Module is a light Modulator and receiver for encryption and decryption of a new and complex system to transcribe information, via wavelength modulation and properties alteration. Also it is still experimental.”
“So to encrypt you use different wavelength to send specific informations?” Asked NE Peabody
“Exactly we use a 1024 Bits Encryption System which allows a plentiful of combinations. So even a slight differentiation of few micron can change the entire message. It is safe and hard to decrypt.” Replied Kai, looking at the non-believing eyes of the NE.
“Now,” he added “I need you two to help me to synchronize, align and regulate the module before we install it.”
“Alright! Let’s do this.” shouted NE Jeanna, agonizing of joy to start.
“Yeah, ok.” Said calmly NE Peabody. He was still a bit impressed about the technology that the young Kai made. Even for him, such hardware was hardworking and needed a lot of time for the effort: he would say that Kingstone had passion for such thing.
While the two started working, Kai was looking around for any sign of Mr. Kanto. The Idea to see him while working on his project made Oliver to have goosebumps and feel under pressure. He, for the sake of his sanity, prayed to avoid to meet him while working: he never hated him, nor had some adversity. He just needed to know him better, as new place, new people. And if Kanto was ever coming there, then he hoped to make a good impression to him.
After deducting that for the moment, no “threat” was there, he took a multiphasic diagnostic tool and started working on the module, while NE Jeanna and NE Peabody were trying to align and compensate some software problems.

Cadet Kai O. Kingstone - Scientist

Kanto’s duty shift ended a couple hours ago, but he realized that he had forgotten something back in his office. He was going to grab the little black box from his desk so the he could look over Vheris’ notes as he knew he would have some free time to get started on his experiment. As he made his way back to Science Lab 1, he noticed that there were officers in the lab. He double-checked the PaDD he carried with him, and there were three people logged in. Mr. Kingstone and two junior scientists. After noting that Kai had requested the lab time, he decided that he would check in on their progress before grabbing his notes. So he entered the lab.

“Mr. Kingstone, Miss Jeanna,” he said as he nodded to each in turn. “Mr. Peabody.” He then turned back to Kai. “How is your experiment coming along?”
