“Well, it’s really where Starfleet needs you the most,” she commented. “But you’ll have a chance to express your preferences and goals to make sure that whatever assignment is a suitable match. Some people really like the adventure of being out in space, for example, and they would never want to be posted to a starbase if they could avoid it.”

Dominic grinned “my mother’s favorite drink eh? Not much of a surprise but I’ll still drink it because I know if I dont my mother will flip. She’s the one who introduced me to that drink.” He said with a smile

Kaylee grinned at the doctor, a slight twinge of innocence being portrayed. “It’s an old standby,” she responded with a laugh.

Cmdr Adrie, CNS

Dominic smiled even more and looked at everyone around him,it made him realize just how important it was to be around them. It made things easier like settling in getting used to the layout of the ship

Torias looked around at the group of cadets and said “Nothing like a go-to drink,” he said with a smile. “So, cadets, working on any projects at the moment?” he asked with genuine curiosity.

Lieutenant (J.G) Torias Paron, CoS

Dominic fiddled with his fingers quietly “I’m not big on talking about stuff I’m working on. Only because of my self esteem. As a kid I would get made fun of so I try to keep to myself. If you dont mind sir.....”

Torias gently nodded. “Understandable, but remember cadet - you’ve got to the final year of the Academy. The fact that you’ve made it this far shows that you know your stuff. You will have access to some of the best equipment to do your job. We’re not here to make fun of each other, we’re here to work together. The crew becomes your family, and if someone is going to think it’s a bad idea, they will be honest, but will also say why - which means you can learn.

The academy is just the beginning, you won’t be prepared for everything when you leave, but if you have ideas that will be relevant, don’t feel too shy to share them,” he said in a professional tone, not the more loose ,casual one he had been taking throughout the day. “After all, your idea can sometimes mean the difference between success and failure,” he added, the XO would know about Torias’ time aboard the Venture, and how the ship was taken over by Marquis forces.

When Torias felt something off, he wasn’t sure he could prove it so said nothing. As a result, the chief engineer of the ship, a Lieutenant Rolson, was sucked into space due to a hull breach in the battle. He could have saved a life, but he only had a gut feeling something was wrong. He sighed, the words came from someone who had made a critical mistake that he has since learned from, and knew the cost that could have if not dealt with.

After what the Lieutenant said, Kai took the words and told to them: “A loss is always a loss. I know how you feel, Lieutenant. But in my case it wasn’t my fault, I was still a young boy, who lived aboard a ship.” He sipped the drink in between “As I was celebrating my 13th birthday… a pirate ship de-cloaked in front of the starboard side. I was in a recreational room, when… suddenly this ship opened fire taking advantage that we had no shield up. The adjacent rooms were hit and the one I was in was hit too. It was a miracle, but I could grab just in time a column and I held as much as I could! Really it felt like suffocating under thousand of kilos and with a strong stream of air. Then an Officer, Mr. Jensen Jacob managed to activate the emergency field and I was saves. But three of my friends died, perhaps my best friend too. My dad instead lost 5 crew members and a close friend. It was a disaster.”
He had a lot of regret afterwards the incident. Sometimes he could still dream that moment and wake up suddenly. Kai wondered why it happened, why he could do nothing and the sadness in him was still there, a permanent acquaintance forged in his mind which leaves a bitter taste of the past.

Returning to the first question, Kai was still breezed and shocked about the memories he had risen while telling his stories. Taking time he realized that he was staring the nothing for already a couple of minutes. He cleared his throat and after another sip he again spoke: “About the projects, I am currently going to call two NEs for an experimental Sub-Space Light Information Transmitting Relè to speed up communications time and reduce it by 200%. Actually, I’m pretty nervous to convene two more experienced officers and lead the project team. Indeed I don’t hella know how to approach them.”
