Gunnar Kaldland

Character Biography

Born in the west fjords of Iceland Gunnar was raised by a family of sheep-farmers, Terrans who believed in a quiet decent life and treating their fellow man with respect. This included their Alien slaves. Gunnar knew something was wrong with this as a child but didn’t understand why. It wasn’t until he started receiving a formal education and access to State files that he realized what that was, but yet again he bided his time to investigate his parents further. At the age of 12, he discovered that his family had been using the relative obscurity of the corner of the small island to smuggle non-Terran slaves offworld. He gathered the evidence he gathered and ran away from home, making his way to the Starfleet Offices in the Capitol. There he turned in his parents for treason. The last he saw them was standing at the front of the line at their execution.

He then renounced his father’s name and took the name of his familial farm as a last name, Kaldland or Coldland an apt name for such a desolate place. For his reward, he only asked to be allowed to study at the Imperial Academy in Britain. He studied at the Academy until his 17th year when he enlisted into Starfleet. Having shown immense promise and graduating at the top of his class he was accepted. He spent three years studying at Starfleet Academy and graduated once more in the top percentile.

In his spare time, Gunnar trained with Marines stationed outside the Academy where he excelled at combat and advanced military tactics. It was there that he trained in the use of his personal favorite weapon, the short ax. A melee weapon that although not very practical in use it proved to be a terrifying display. He can always be seen carrying it attached to his left side.

Physical Description:
Gunnar is a middle-aged man in excellent physical shape. Black hair that is greying at the temples, trimmed down in a military haircut.
