Renveer might be described as rather plain-looking, but he has a simple grace to him as well. He is an averagely-built trill man with short brown hair that’s almost shaved on the sides but with a couple inches of length on the top. Renveer has a kind, round face with deep brown eyes and the signature trill markings that run down his forehead, temples, and neck. There is nothing particularly remarkable about Renveer’s appearance, but he has been told that he has a ‘familiar face’ by many people. When Renveer smiles, it is almost always disarming, and his routinely relaxed body language tends to put others at ease.
“I’m sorry, you must be thinking of someone else. But I hope they left a good impression!”
Renveer can be quite the ‘chameleon’ as he readily changes his disposition to fit his role in a given context or to adapt to the needs of others around him. This isn’t done to be disingenuous, but rather to meet the emotional needs of others. When he’s relaxed and socializing, Renveer is often in a sunny mood, good-humored but not to the point of naivety. In his counseling sessions, Renveer is personable but formal, respectful and caring. On the bridge, he can be either calm and collected or outspoken and direct, usually providing whichever perspective is not already being championed by other bridge crew. Renveer is an exceptionally difficult person to anger or upset, as his level-headedness is one of his greatest strengths.
“I listen. I listen because there is so much power, so much healing, that comes just from being heard.”
Renveer felt deep in his soul that he was meant to join Starfleet. He continues to be enraptured with the diverse people he encounters by traveling throughout the galaxy, and sees his role as a cultural ambassador as one of the most rewarding. Renveer attended Starfleet Academy many years ago and specialized in the CNS track, having already earned advanced degrees in psychology, lifespan development, and sociology during his time training for the joining program on Trill. In his first decade of service, Renveer was the CNS of multiple ships of varying sizes, and always insisted that he be given a station on the bridge from which to observe communications with other peoples, and participate when appropriate. Renveer worked very hard to be a counselor, cultural ambassador, adviser, moral compass, and morale officer all at once, and tended to succeed at finding the correct balance based on the needs of the ship he is currently assigned to. Most recently, Renveer was promoted to executive officer of the USS Dresden, trading in his teal uniform for command red.
“Conflict is almost always a result of a breakdown in communication. If I can help build a bridge between us and those we encounter, we will all be safer for it.”
Renveer was born on Trill and was determined to pursue placement in the trill joining program from a very young age. Naturally bright, Renveer had his pick of disciplines to attract the attention of a symbiont, and chose psychology. He studied very hard to be extremely knowledgeable in conflict resolution and guided reflection through multiple degrees in related fields. However, there came a time when Renveer discovered that he was drawn to the stars. He found himself desperately dreaming of joining Starfleet, but he knew that there was mortal risk involved with a station on a starship. He wanted to be a Starfleet officer, but he didn’t want to put a symbiont at constant risk. Renveer dropped out of the joining program, giving up on one dream for another. He is still conflicted about this decision to this day, feeling some amount of shame for giving up on the opportunity of being a host, one of his culture’s highest honors. Renveer has never been able to quite decide if he was acting selfishly, or selflessly.
“I know I am where I am supposed to be. Sometimes I just wonder if I’m who I’m supposed to be. Was I supposed to be more?”
Renveer has no major medical ailments, and is in good shape physically. Previous interactions with other counselors have resulted in notes being made in his psychological profile about his conflicted feelings about his decision regarding his withdrawal from the joining program.
“Well yes, I take care of myself. How can you care for others when you haven’t figured out how to care for yourself?”
