Skin Tone - Peelie pale

A young woman who truly bears the image of an officer keeping up habits gained from academy physical training classes, keeping herself almost as crisp as her blue uniform. Particularly strong of leg from years of hiking and climbing. She is consciously very upright while on duty but has a tendency to slump and spread herself out while relaxing off duty. While not working, she has a preference for either dark comfort wear (always her choice for her daily run) or sleek shirts and waistcoats.

Personality:
While on duty, McMorran is to the point and concise. Some may even describe her as curt. That would only describe a subset of her interactions however as in her mind being ‘to the point’ does not necessarily mean being short. Her first instinct is to seek out the means of most clearly communicating with a colleague before committing to that path.

A first impression of the off-duty Aili might paint her as somewhat shy and reclusive. The same analysis she deploys in work interactions often bleeds through into over-analysis when socialising, made worse by her lack of faith in her own social abilities inflating her nerves when meeting new people. Once she has proven herself wrong, she is released to be fun, excitable and enthusiastic.

Biography:
Aili was born on the Isle of Bute, Scotland and grew up in Glasgow, Scotland. From a young age, Aili spent winter breaks with her grandfather Albert on his farm in the Scottish Highlands. Albert is an ardent student of the sciences, especially physics, despite having no advanced formal education. Fireside discussions with her grandfather instilled a passion for science, discovery and philosophy in Aila. She also greatly enjoyed joining him in his stargazing atop the hill behind his homestead, using his prized antique 20th century telescope. Aili also spent childhood summers with her grandparents on her mother’s side on the island of her birth. Her grandparents are retired Starfleet security officers, only having left active service in order to return to their family home to better raise a family. Aili felt far more at home with her grandparents than with her parents, artists and musicians, who rarely allowed a quite moment back in the city.

Breaking with her brother who followed in their parents footsteps, Aila attended the University of St Andrews and studied sciences with a focus on theoretical and computational physics. Unsure what to do with her life throughout her time in education, she applied for further education at an institute on Andoria. After spending the winter of her final year with her grandparents on Bute, she was inspired to cancel her plans and apply to Starfleet Academy instead.
