Character Biography

Oscar is an ill-tempered man who has a habit for collecting random items of seemingly little value specifically because others discard said items. He puts very little emphasis upon personal hygiene. Due to this, Starfleet requires him to wear a specialized hazmat suit when he works in areas other than the Jeffries tubes. Normally, his attitude regarding personal appearance and hygiene regulations would have had him dismissed from Starfleet. However, his skills as an Engineer are such that, as much as they are loathe to keep him, Starfleet is more reluctant to let him leave. He enlisted in Starfleet and refused to join the officer track due to the responsibility that it would entail. He is a lifetime NCO, but he pretty much only gets promoted so that a CO can get Oscar off of his or her ship and transfer Cascarrabias elsewhere.

Oscar grew up in Andalucia, Spain. He has a large, extended family, and apparently, they are just as curmudgeonly and just as disinterested in cleanliness.
