Jensen grew up in Ontario, Canada. He has 3 brothers: Anthony (26), Terry (20), and Brentson (14). His brother Anthony enlisted in Starfleet rather than apply to become an officer, and is currently stationed on the USS Wolverine. While Jensen originally wanted to become a doctor, many of his high school teachers wanted him to utilize his skills through Starfleet. After holding a part-time job assisting the local freight company to deliver goods, Jensen decided he wanted to become a Helmsman on a Starship. Jensen’s stubbornness has gotten him into trouble throughout his early childhood and into high school but leveled out by the time he entered into Starfleet Academy.

Jensen sailed through Starfleet Academy without incident until it came time for the Kobayashi Maru test. He was stationed as the Helm/Operations officer during the test, and tricked a Klingon’s torpedo into hitting another Klingon ship. This was done by flying head-on into a Klingon ship then pulling up at the last second. Unfortunately, this act was performed without the direction from the Cadet Captain who later blamed him for them losing the no-win scenario. He was, however, commended by the instructors who later told him his actions could have awarded him a medal or a court-martial depending on the real-life outcome. Cadet Truhart later scuffled with the Cadet in charge of the scenario, and while covered in bruises, failed to point out who he fought with and later became friends with him.

Towards the end of his 4th year as a Cadet, Jensen was chosen to perform his senior cruise aboard a starship as an experiment to see whether or not that experience had a more positive outcome than utilizing an entire Starship of cadets.
