Character Biography

Most, if not all, of Echo’s past is unknown–even to himself in some cases. What is known is as follows:

Echo was found in 2392, in a stasis pod aboard a mysterious Deep Space Exploration vessel. This vessel, which it’s computers identified as Geneva, was unknown to Starfleet, or to anyone else, as there was no record of it’s launch. Most of the stasis pods held humans, but a few held other creatures which are still unidentified. The humans were dressed in clothing dating back to the late 21st century, but their identities were completely unknown.

The fact that Echo was alive was discovered on accident, when a curious scientist, wondering why the light under his pod was on, opened the stasis pod, causing Echo to quickly come to. Stunning the scientists with his knowledge of Starfleet based on emblems and colors of their uniforms, they immediately called a security detail to detain the man.

When he was brought aboard the ship, he immediately began talking about how to better utilize the EPS systems, and confirming questions about how phasers worked.

All of this alarmed Starfleet, as Echo, if he was from the 21st century, shouldn’t know any of this information. Due to this, Echo was turned over to Starfleet Command for interrogation, where it was found out that either the man was a great faker, or he genuinely knew nothing of his past.

A Vulcan by the name of S’Dar used a mind meld to find out that Echo’s memory seemed to start with coming to in his stasis pod–no memories existed from before that. Due to this, and the revelation that he probably deemed little threat to the Federation, he was allowed to join Starfleet–if nothing else but so that Commander S’Dar could keep tabs on him. After graduating from Starfleet Academy in half the time of any other Cadet, Echo was almost immediately assigned to the USS Atlantis.
