Character Biography

Appearance:

Ryan stands at about 5 feet 11 inches and has a mass of 175 pounds. His hair is jet black which he likes to keep semi short, though it’s still long enough for him to receive bedhead. While his eyes are normally Emerald colored, when he is angry his eyes will turn a very dark green color.
He has a very toned build, though it’s mainly from eating healthy than working out. His skin tone is somewhat of a caramel color during the hot seasons and begins to lighten to a light tan during the cold seasons.

Family:

Though little is known to Ryan about his mother, Ryan’s father was a Diplomat to the Klingon Home world where he helped conduct train agreements between the Federation and Klingon High Council. While on vacation with his wife, Emily Trainor and his son, Corey Trainor, Emily suddenly came down with an unknown illness. Before the doctors could finish running tests, Emily died on the biobed. When the test results came back, it was found that Emily was poisoned by one of the chef’s who had prepared her meal an hour before. Though his wife’s death was a major moral blow to both Ryan and Corey, Ryan remained strong so that his son could live a normal life. His son is due to reside on the USS Ark Angel once he comes to the age of 14. Having been promoted to Lieutenant Commander, Ryan was transferred to the USS Manhattan as Chief Engineer.

*Ryan had gotten Emily pregnant when he was 13 and she was 17. Because abortion was illegal, they welcomed Corey into their lives 7 and a half months later. When Ryan was 16, he and Emily finally got married, before he shipped off to the Academy.

Background:

Ryan was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to a Human Father and a Betazoid Mother. His father was a Federation Diplomat to the Klingon Home world where he had helped to maintain trade routes between both the Klingons and Federation. Ryan’s mother died during childbirth and because his father never remarried, Ryan was a triplet who only wanted to follow his father’s footsteps.

Siblings:
Brother- Tenzing Trainor (Physical Age: 29, again 19 after an incident with Q), Lieutenant Commander aboard the USS Atlantis

Sister- Ashlynn Trainor, Lieutenant aboard the USS Brian A Olinski

Early Starfleet Career:

After graduating High School at the age of 16, Ryan applied to Starfleet Academy under the Operations Track however, half way through his academy career, his father had become ill and died quickly thereafter. After finding out that his father had died from an unknown illness, Ryan changed course and started to take Medical Classes to get a degree in Emergency Medicine and Operations. With special permission from the academy commandant, Ryan was held in the academy for an extra year while he continued his studies in the medicine and operations field. When he graduated at the age of 21, Ryan was recognized as a Medical and Operations Officer in the Starfleet database.

1st Assignment: USS Ogawa

Ryan’s first assignment was as a Medical JO onboard the USS Ogawa. During this period, the Ensign was mainly involved in medical coding and filing of medical records for the 200 crewmembers. Their are no significant events that happened during the first year.

While the USS Ogawa was on a Diplomatic Meeting with the Romulans, things turned sour and the Rommies began to fire at the Triton. Ryan was one of the Doctors to respond to the bridge for a medical emergency. Once Ryan entered the bridge, he had noticed that the operations station was vacant due to the COO being killed in the attack. He immediately took over at the station, without protest from any of the command crew. (They hadn’t noticed that Ryan was at the station.) When reinforcements arrived, the Romulans had retreated and ship assessments began. Captain Feliz finally noticed that Ryan was at the Operations and confronted the Ensign about it. However, it was soon founded that Ensign Trainor had diverted over 15 different power fluxuations that could have caused serious problems to the ship’s sensors and shielding array. For his actions, Ryan was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade and was temporarily transferred to the Operations Department for the remainder of the Ship’s mission.

After 6 months in the Operations Department, Ltjg Trainor was transferred back to the Medical Department to take on the assistant Chief Medical Officer Position. Though he was not on the ship’s senior staff, he was a senior medical officer onboard, and was well respected by the other officers for his past service. Ryan acted as acting CMO at times like; when the CMO went in labor and was out on leave for 6 weeks, and another time when the CMO attended conferences off the ship. While acting as CMO, Ryan participated in DH meetings and soon earned the respect of the command staff.
No major events happened during this time.

Assignment 2: Starfleet Command

By the time Ryan was 25, he had spent almost 4 years in Starfleet and had gained a lot of experience in the Medical and Operations Department. Ryan was offered an administrative position back at Starfleet Command, and he agreed to take on the job. Ryan’s new job duties would be teaching academy cadets on medical procedures, along with teaching other cadets how to clean the deflector dish without frying it. Though the assignment was really boring, Ryan received a promotion to full Lieutenant.

During his second year at Starfleet Command, Ryan spent his time continuing his job with teaching the cadets. While off duty, Lt. Trainor began to study for the Bridge Officer’s Exam, which would let Ryan become an Officer of the Deck and possibly act as Captain if it came down to it.
Ryan did not pass the test on the first try… but passed the exam with flying colors 3 weeks later. (It was found that the Instructor had gotten Ryan’s first test mixed up with another students.)

Assignment 3: USS Ark Angel

After his assignment at Starfleet Command ended, Ryan was transferred to the USS Ark Angel where he was assigned as the Chief Medical Officer. During this time Ryan had gotten to know what it really meant to lead. While the Ark Angel was on a dangerous mission, the CMO had watched 3 people die before his eyes; Ensign Terrel, Crewman Frix, and Lieutenant Divok, the CTO that had died on his operating table. It was then that Ryan realized that being in the Medical field was not what he wanted, but to be on the Bridge as an Operations Officer, and someday to Captain his own ship. After his first mission aboard the Ark Angel, Ryan was transferred to the Operations Department as its Department Head. He remained a Lieutenant, but was now able to spend more time on the bridge, and even became the duty officer for charlie shift. This was now his first step to becoming a Second Officer, or even a First Officer in the near future.

Ryan’s first mission as Chief of Operations was a success. They were able to find out what happened to the 23rd Century Deep Exploration ship that was sent out, over 100 years ago. Though the loss of life was minimal, a few members of the crew did parish… but that’s inevitable when a Starship is given a dangerous mission. Danger comes with the uniform. A few weeks after returning to Earth, the Ark Angel was called out on yet another deep space mission. This time, they found an old Romulan warbird that had been in deep space for nearly 80 years. While their were survivors, all of them were generational. After helping them get their ship back up and running, the Romulans were given supplies, and escorted to Federation space. They then separated and went on their way.

Assignment 4: USS Manhattan

After the mission with the Romulans on the Ark Angel, Ryan was promoted to Lieutenant Commander, and given the Chief Engineer and Second Officer role aboard the USS Manhattan.

Assignment 5: USS Viking

After a year spent on the Manhattan, Starfleet promoted Ryan to Commander and transferred him to the USS Viking, where he served as Operations Manager. During this time, Trainor spent most of his time coming to terms that he may or may not get murdered by the ship’s computer. Ryan was able to assist in the repair of multiple key systems before getting injured by a Romulan Elf during a routine turbolift repair. Command later transferred him back to Headquarters as an attache to Fleet 0.
