Personality:
Shy to the point of being timid, Ju tends to be quite the wallflower. In the Academy, it was a rumor that her voice didn’t go loud enough to be considered shouting, because she always spoke in a soft, quiet tone, and usually only when spoken to. These days she tends to be a bit more outspoken, though she uses the same soft tone. She is kind to the point of fault and commonly reminds herself of an old earth phrase her mother taught her: “Don’t light yourself on fire to keep yourself warm.” She prefers small gatherings with just a few people over large parties or events like concerts.
Professionally, she’s generally confident, but not to the point of arrogance. She generally likes to be left to her own devices and works alone, but she can work with a team when it is required of her.
When in a position of leadership, whether that be permanent, or just heading up a temporary team, she is calm and levelheaded, but swift and decisive when it comes down to it. The quieter, intuitive type, few problems will stump her.
Ju’s emotions are another story altogether. On the topic of personal relationships, Ju keeps a few close friends, and a few acquaintances. She isn’t known for having a lot of dates or anything, rather being quite focused on work.

Backstory:
Jasmine taught young Juvri as much as she could about Betazoid customs, but Jasmine simply was not very well-informed about them. Leibos had chose Juvri’s name before he died. Jasmine gave her his surname in honor of him. She did not know how Betazoid’s psionic abilities worked well. She had known about Leibos’ abilities, and that they were considered quite good in his culture, but she did not know about how they developed, or how they worked. So she did not know how to help Juvri when she came to adolescence and began to sense others’ emotions. In all honesty, Jasmine had hoped that Juvri would take after her, and not develop these abilities at all. When she did, they figured she was just an empath, she could sense the emotions of the other colonists.
The colony grew quickly, and there were many other children that Juvri played with growing up, but most of the time, she preferred to play alone. There was a school, of course, and Juvri generally did well. Because scientists taught all the classes, there was quite an emphasis on science. However, she was also taught the other subjects, as well.
Once Juvri developed her abilities, they kind of freaked out her friends, and they sort of drifted away. When Juvri was young, she decided she wanted to join Starfleet, so she could be on a Starship like the stories her mother told her about her father. It was when she was in her early 20’s that she was accepted to Starfleet Academy.
Starfleet Academy was a completely different arena for Juvri, and she enjoyed every second of it. She had a few close friends, and she did very well. She graduated near the top of her academy class.
During her time at the Academy, she had a… sort of mentor in one of her teachers, who was human, but had spent quite a lot of time on Betazed, and told her many stories of her homeworld. He pushed her to see a psychologist, though she never went.
Because of her upbringing around humans, she spent a lot of time ignoring her abilities, and she was uncomfortable using them. Most of the time, she wished she wasn’t an empath at all, and tried to tune out other people’s emotions.
It was also in the Academy that she met another telepath, and discovered that she also had weak telepathic powers, but she could only communicate with other telepaths.
