Short physical description: Considered rather handsome for a Vulcan, he does boast the pointed ears and pale, green-tinted skin of his ancestry on his father’s side. He has a long face, with a narrow nose and eyes like those of a hawk, sharp and piercing. He is tall, at 6‘4’‘, with long legs but an equally long torso. He is considered quite lanky due to his slim build and long arms.

Biographical Notes
Background Summary
Solal was found on the Segal’s doorstep one crisp April morning, just a month old at the time. He’d been left at some point in the middle of the night. Julien and Marcel, doctors in their thirties, had long since been discussing adoption, and though the baby left on their doorstep wasn’t quite what they imagined, they took it as a sign, and took in the child as their own. There was no note, no tag, no name. They determined the baby’s age to be approximately one month, and chose a birthdate to assign the baby accordingly. They named the baby Solal.

The Segals provided Solal with everything they could, and from the time he was young, he attended the best schools in France. As a young child, Solal was challenging, his emotions amplified by his Vulcan heritage. He was teased in school, there were no other Vulcan children in his classes. The Segals were honest about his mysterious origins, and answered his questions honestly: No, they didn’t know where he was from. Yes, he was Vulcan, they’d done genetic testing, he had a Vulcan parent and a human parent. But no, they didn’t know who they were. They encouraged him to take up hobbies, but the only one Solal stuck with was his violin.

Solal struggled with his emotions, Vulcans are violent and paranoid by nature with strong emotions to rival those of Andorians. His emotions were toned down by his human half, however he struggled, and so the Segals got him a psychologist. The psychologist suggested Solal learn more about his Vulcan heritage and learn Vulcan meditation. The Segals were willing to do anything, and the family learned Vulcan meditation and philosophy together. As Solal entered his teen years, his emotions became easier to handle with his meditations, and he worked towards the emotional fortitude common on Vulcan. He became committed to this goal. He wished to visit the planet, but the Segals did not have the means to take him. As his classmates aged, the teasing tapered off, but he still had difficulty making and keeping friends.

Solal always knew he was to follow his adoptive fathers’ footsteps and become a doctor, and in that interest, he was always a hard worker and astute student. After he began his meditations, his grades increased from B’s to straight A’s. Interested in learning more about deep space, and wanting to some day make it to Vulcan, Solal decided to work towards joining Starfleet, a choice his adoptive parents supported despite being upset that he would have to leave one day.

When Solal began high school, he went to a boarding school in Paris. He struggled at first, being away from his parents, but he did well academically, and visited home at every opportunity. He graduated at seventeen and began university in France, studying pre-medicine. He graduated with a bachelors in health sciences and biology. He applied to and was accepted to the Starfleet Academy in San Francisco, where he attended medical school and successfully passed Starfleet’s Medical program, earning himself a place in Starfleet as a Medical Officer. He was quickly posted to a starship, and made sure to say goodbye to his parents before he shipped off to join the ship. Still dedicated to achieving Vulcan emotional control, he left behind all his personal effects, and brought nothing other than a picture of his parents.

Aboard the USS Ogawa, Solal picked his old hobby of the violin up, using the holodeck to create a holographic instrument. He did not tell anyone he liked to do this, he saw it as embarrassing, because there is no logical reason for it, and that makes it not a very Vulcan thing to do. It was in this way that he met the ship’s CSO, Achilleas, and the two became somewhat of friends. Achilleas later transferred off the Ogawa.

Personality Summary
Solal experiences emotions in a much more Human way than the typical Vulcan, though he does use meditation to suppress his emotions. This leads him to be conflicted between Vulcan logic and Human emotion. He is generally rather introverted and spends most of his time alone, but is overall nice enough. He can be rather stubborn.

Recent Fitness Reports and Medical History
Medically, Solal is Vulcan, with Vulcan anatomy and physiology, though like most half Vulcans his blood contains human factors.. He has had no major health problems in the course of his life, aside the occasional childhood cold or flu. He’s never broken a bone.

Solal takes a Vulcan view of psychology viewing it as unnecessary and pointless. Overall he adjusted to Starfleet quickly and has no major mental health problems.
