Raised in a typical town in the midwest, she is that ‘girl next door’ from a family that was almost perfect. Her father was a virologist that worked at a local hospital, and her mother kept their home happy and full of life.

Unable to have additional children after a birthing of Jen, they pampered her like she was miracle. She went to the local schools, her parents not rich enough or prestigious enough to get her into private school. She graduated her secondary school near the top of her class and moved on to check out a college capable of her following in her father’s footsteps. When she realized they wouldn’t be able to afford it, she applied to the Academy to have them pay for her wanted education. Her goal was to become an expert in deep space virology and the trauma medicines that come from it.

Her first station was on the rim of the Milky Way where she studied the difference of various bugs in space. How they affected people in both Earth and zero G environments was a fascination for her. She requested the Ogawa, when she was promoted to JG, at her next rotation so she could study with the professionals in deep space and perhaps even be on the front lines when something new was discovered.

Her strength lies in her tenacity to study something down to the molecular level. From viruses to emergency medicine. From triage to fevers and flu. Jen finds anything to do with medicine to be worth studying to its fullest.
Her weakness is zero G. She can wear an EV and do a walk if needed. But it scares her to the core. Her biggest fear is drifting away into space. Sometimes at night, just before falling asleep, that moment of weightlessness she feels on the cusp of sleep, sometimes sets off her anxiety and causes her to lose sleep for a while as the panic runs its course.

She does aerobics and runs, but doesn’t have a lot of strength beyond the normal for her body type.
