Born in conflict, Clodagh “Chloe” had two ways to go as she grew up. She could either become a protector, or a predator. She was born the year the Borg nearly destroyed all of mankind, about 30 miles outside the Federation Capital. Her mother died in childbirth due to the stress of her father being killed defending their home from above in one of the ships that tried to save Earth. Despite growing up in a foster home, she had been one of the lucky ones. The home was a nurturing one and she grew up loved, and constantly reminded of her real parents and their sacrifices, lest she ever think she was abandoned like so many others in her predicament.

Soon as the recruiters came to her school to announce their branches of study for the Fleet, she immediately enlisted. She joined Security because she knew others had protected her when times were dire and she wanted to pass that on. Not just to those of Earth, but anyone deemed ‘friend’, or even ‘not enemy’. She built herself to be strong, confident and secure in her position and took high marks in class. She wasn’t great at making up scenarios, but once given one, she was excellent at thinking it thru to the end and even considering alternate endings and possibilities.

Once out in the fleet, she found a lot of her off time spent hovering around the engineers and even earning the right to come to engineering on occasion to pick their brains about this and that and learn the basics of ship’s operations. In a pinch, she could be told to push a button and knew where most of them were. Her fascination with engineering and space ships in particular comes from her past. While she didn’t personally experience the Borg, she is obsessively curious about mechanical integration on humans and how ships can be made to either outrun, out maneuver or flat out destroy Borg ships. She is certain they have a weakness the humans just haven’t figured out yet. And she hopes, with her non engineering background, that she may come up with a question that will lead ‘those in the know’ to the appropriate answer.

Her strength is her desire to protect. Her weakness is her desire to protect ‘everyone’. Sometimes she has to be reminded, not everyone can be saved all the time. It makes her angry, but she follows orders.
Her phobia is free fall. With mag lock boots she can do even the scariest space walks. She is fine on a tether as well, as long as she can see it. But she fears drifting off and not being saved in time.
