Full Name: Lieutenant Junior Grade Che’lak

Appearance:
Skin Tone - Lightly tanned
Eye Colour - Grey
Hair - Black with a suggestion of greying, typically Vulcan

A tall woman the word ‘lean’ could have been devised to describe. Her facial features seem somehow flat and receding with the exception of pointed chin. She is rarely if ever seen by her crewmates out of uniform.

Personality:
Che’lak hardly contradicts the stereotypical image of a Vulcan. No-nonsense and gently cynical, she makes little effort to hide her sense of tedium during long spells of treating patients of well-studied races, seeing it as a less worthy application of her talents than handling cases involving new life forms in potential first contact situations. If the word applied to Vulcans, she would be described as uptight about maintaining her composure, even relative to the rest of her species.

Biography:
Che’lak benefited from a stable and rather typical Vulcan upbringing. In her 24th year, while beginning her time at the Vulcan Science Academy, she developed a painful chronic nerve condition. This condition wore away at her composure over a period of months, ultimately resulting in public displays of anguish. Her broken will also allowed other of her emotions to rise to the surface. With support and treatment, Che’lak was able to recover from her condition but its psychological impact would go on to shape her personality and cause health issues. Her determination to remain unswayed by emotion took itself too far for her own good.

She went on to work as a theorist in alien physiology with Starfleet Medical on Vulcan for many years. Eventually, she decided to train in practical medicine and actually enter Starfleet in order to apply her knowledge on the frontier, discovering new biology and applying her specialist skill set to save lives. During the years in which she prepared for starship duty, her and her husband Torin started a family, not knowing how long it would be until she returned to regular residence on Vulcan. In her absence, Torin raises their two children.

- Endured a chronic nerve condition at the age of 24.
- Suffered from a case of Choriocytosis at the age of 43
- Psychological issues during and following her periods of pon farr, at times leading to some deterioration in physical health

Psychological History:
- Regularly suffers from mental stress due to overintense self-regulation.
- Has a history of expending a great deal of mental effort in at best moderately successful attempts to suppress pon farr instincts, which has led to extended periods of psychological unbalance on multiple of these occasions, the most recent of which was six years ago.
