Character Biography

Born on Earth, Iceland 12th of October 2212.

Appearance:
A tall fairly well-built man in his late thirties. Dark green eyes. Light brown hair kept short, no facial hair. Several partially healed burn marks on his chest and back. He has a fairly plain-looking face and a kind smile.

History:
Karl was born to Jóhann Tryggvason and Rebekka Jónsdóttir in the Capital city of Iceland Reykjavik. His father was a Starship mechanic who worked on the Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards on Mars. His mother was a Warp Engine Specialist who worked for a Federation Civilian Starship agency. His love of engineering was instilled at a young age, at five he was already busy taking apart the family shuttle car apart and putting it back together.

He was inspired by his great grandmother to join Starfleet but he was impatient, he wanted to get in a Starship Engine room as soon as he could so he applied to the Starfleet Technical Services Academy to get his basic training done. He showed an exceptional understanding of the inner workings of the standard Federation Warp engines and excelled in his studies. When he graduated he was quickly assigned to the Miranda Class starship USS Celeborn as a Petty Officer in Engineering.

He served on the Celeborn several years, that was where he met fellow Icelander and Starfleet Officer Sara Sigmundsdóttir. They started a relationship after serving together for a few years. She was a junior science officer. After a three-year relationship, they were married. The ship’s captain, Marita Islas, officiated their ceremony. A few years later they had a son together they named Sigmundur after her father. Their relationship was a loving one but strenuous due to their shared responsibilities. When their son was born they planned to move back to Earth together. Sara got assigned to a research station on Luna and Karl worked in San Fransisco working on new Warp Core designs.

Karl was reassigned to the Celeborn at the request of its Chief Engineer when they were assigned on a long-term Pirate suppression mission. His work during this long year got him promoted to Chief Petty Officer despite his young age. Several Pirate Captains had been attempting to gather fleets and carve out a new neutral Empire based on slavery and the power of the strong over the weak, the Celeborn was a part of a small fleet of combat duty vessels. He doesn’t like speaking of his time during this conflict but has a deep ingrown dislike even hatred for pirates, slavers, and the like. During this time he became well acquainted with combat and weaponry and on more than one occasion he served on the Bridge of his ship during combat.

The next two years after his return from this long conflict were unpleasant for him and his family which ended in Divorce. He parted on good terms with his wife. By the time his son was eight years old, he got reassigned to the USS Thyme, a Cardenas Class Starship. He was assigned there, after a promotion to Senior Chief Petty Officer at the recommendation of his project Leader.

The Thyme was a part of the fleet engagement with the Klingons on Donatu V and a point where Karl managed to prove himself under stressful situations, taking charge of the Engineering team after the Chief was injured by an exploding console.

He was Reassigned to the USS Sentinel as an Engineer
