Summary:
After graduating from New York Community College in computer science, Tom felt he wasn’t good enough or excited enough to take this career. Regardless of his appetite, he had to take a keyboard and work as maintenance staff. This profession might sound boring, but one of the clients was the most notable tech institute stationed on Earth. The nature of this work allowed him to travel to different regions.
It was his 2nd assignment in the Middle East, south region. The job was to upgrade a local infrastructure. That day was particularly hot. His shuttle had a mechanical failure and went down. After few days later, he woke up in a hospital bed with machines. He was one of the survivors that day, but his injury to the head left him with occasional headaches. Soon, he was terminated from the contract two weeks later for incapacitated status.
After 6 months of rehabilitation, Tom could finally walk like a normal. But it cost him very fatal. One day he was at a hotel, where he found a notice sign that showed, “Joint presentation from Harvard University and Star-Fleet Academy.” He thought perhaps he could gain something from the meeting. So he went. He didn’t know this was a second chance given from the above.
Surprisingly, no one attending that event was interested in the most famous institute. The Star-Fleet Academy was represented by a retired Lieutenant from the JAG Corps. After the event, Tom went straight to him and made some conversations. After he told the story, the legal officer not only showed some sympathy but also agreed to write a recommendation letter if he had made his decision. The rest was history.
After graduated from the Academy, class of ‘97, he was pinned as Ensign and headed to USS Viking. He did 6 months duty as a science officer, particulary gained first-hand experience on computer related issuses and working with engineering teams.

Quotes to be remembered:
=c= End the program 88750 Alpha. =c= - Ensign Little at 12 Forward program on USS Viking
“Were you here the whole time?” - Ensign Little with the Team Asam on USS Viking
What is in a name I’m wearing this thing at the first pla..ce? O.h.? - Ensign Little with a thought at Deck 8 on USS Viking
“Okay, I’ll be back and um… be safe out there.” - Ensign Little with the repair teams on USS Viking
“Let’s see, why-little-tom-ended-up-on-her-mighty-squad? Number one, the HR made a mistake. Number two, the academy was trying to create a scientist slash engineer. Three… because of you.” - Cadet Little with the CSO on USS Challenger
“I see, in that case, may I ask you to join me?” - Cadet Little with the CMO on USS Challenger
“Maybe it wasn’t wise to talk about the retirement plan on the first day of office, but … this cadet was instructed to maintain total fitness on a daily basis, support and assist the Department Head on making recommendations to the Commanding Officer whenever needed. Writing happens after I transitioned back to civilian.” - Cadet Little with the CNS on USS Challenger
“So, if we’re in the mess hall, assuming everyone is holding a drink, that would be an intuitive model of the whole universe!” - Cadet Little with another CSO on USS Challenger
“Security, I need an energy beam down there. Adjust the phaser to power transfer, 2.0% output. I’m transferring the coordinates to your console. On my mark… Fire.” - Cadet Little on the bridge of USS Challenger
