Physical Description: He has neatly combed short brown hair, pale skin, and the characteristic dark spots common to all Trills. His uniform is usually impeccable, and his badge and pips spotless. It is more common now that he has gained more experience and confidence to find him slightly more relaxed, but he still runs a relatively by-the-book department.

History: Demil was born on Trill in the year 2377 (stardate 54134.83), into a family of musicians. He grew up relatively sheltered, but even from a young age, it was apparent that the boy was highly gifted. While his contemporaries were learning their alphabet and how to add, he was multiplying, using fractions, and writing insightful (if a bit basic) opinion paragraphs. A semi-unfortunate side effect of the gap in comprehension is Demil became very introverted. He ended up skipping 1st and 2nd grades, going from K to 3rd. Needless to say, the 3rd graders were not thrilled with having a 6-year-old among them, and so Demil had few friends growing up. This was fine with him, though, because he could spend more time focusing on his passions: music and science. Eventually, around 8th grade, he had built up a small friend group. Then, they ended up all going to different high schools, and Demil was left alone once again. In fact, he was ostracized and bullied due to his young age, causing him to dive even further into his schoolwork and passions. Things began to improve after the beginning of his sophomore year. He finally had a focus for his career path, and he drove himself even harder, dangerously close to burnout but just barely safe. His junior and senior years he was concurrently enrolled in several courses at the Trill Science Ministry. During his senior year (at 15 years old, approaching 16), he applied to, and got into, Starfleet Academy. He became perfectionistic about protocol, to cope with the condescension and doubt regarding his age. He studied Linguistics, Genetics, and Anthropology, and graduated at the age of 19 years and 11 months. While in the academy, he was notified by the Symbiosis Commission he was eligible to receive a symbiont and was joined at 18. The Lis symbiont has had one previous host: Federation Diplomat Nilani Lis.
Demil served two years on the USS Ark Angel as a junior science officer, eventually rising to take command of the genetics research within the larger science department, receiving a promotion to Lieutenant Junior Grade. A few months later, he was offered a second promotion and the post of Chief Science Officer of the USS Challenger, and transferred off the Ark Angel to accept.

NOTE: Deathly allergic to insect bites. Patient is required to carry a hypospray of epinephrine at all times, superior officers on away missions should be notified.

In the event of patient’s death, the symbiont must be immediately transferred to stasis and transported to Trill.
