Character Biography

Appearance:
Quinn is a woman with very curly black hair and a medium skin-tone. Her mother is African-American and her father is Italian-American. She’s very tall. Her eyes are hazel, and filled with intense energy.

History:
Quinn Dagget was born “Selene Port,” to mother Cheryl Port. Her father, Claude Dagget, was a well known pirate with whom Cheryl had enjoyed a few months of free love in her late twenties. Cheryl wasn’t a particularly good mother, so when the Pirate came to claim his booty, young Selene (then 8 years old) didn’t hesitate to join the really cool guy.

Dagget took Selene on many adventures out in Space amongst his small crew of Humans, a few Orions, a Tellarite, and a Caitian. The ship was Karol’s Wake, their job - steal random stuff from strangers. Smaller and lighter than most vessels, the Wake could warp in, shoot up a ship, then warp out with the cargo in tow. It was a brilliant scheme. And it worked. Selene changed her name to Quinn Dagget and joined in with the crew, learning all the skills a pirate might need to know - emergency ship repairs, epic piloting skills, emergency first aid, how to fight dirty, and all that kind of fun stuff.

However, good times can only last so long. When she was turning 16, Claude gave her a choice. Stay with the Wake as an adult and claim her identity as a pirate, or go clean and run away to mommy. Quinn thought about it for several long days, refusing to leave her room except to eat and use the toilet. Finally, she knew what she wanted - she enjoyed the thrills of pirating, but she wanted something more nebulous than pirate treasure. She wanted to see new life and new civilizations, to go where none had dared to travel. She wanted to join Starfleet.

Knowing it meant she would never see him again, Quinn gave her dad a hug and said a farewell to the rest of the crew. She then slipped off the ship in the dead of night, finding her way from the Wake to another ship where she stowed away until they reached another station. From there she booked passage to Earth, where her mother presumably was.

Once back on Earth, Quinn ran to the authorities and begged asylum and a pardon for her crimes, claiming that she was coerced into crime by her father, who had spirited her away against her will at such a young age that she hadn’t understood that it was a crime.

Given the circumstances, she was allowed to be a free citizen and was returned to her mother. Quinn spent the next two years studying and trying to get into Starfleet. Other than her being abysmal at science-related subjects, she got high test scores in the exams, which eventually granted her entrance into her dream. Starfleet Academy.

She was admitted to Starfleet Academy at age 18, in 2244, and graduated in 2248. She then spent a few years as a shuttle pilot aboard Starbase 5 before being transferred to the Sentinel as her primary Helmsman.
