Description:
Joe is not the tallest in the fleet, nor the most powerfully built. Standing at a a short five foot, eight inches tall he seems unassuming and a number of his crew are taller or larger. With dark green eyes and more pepper than salt in his slicked back black hair and a hard edge to his somewhat pronounced cheekbones, his stare has been known to make more than a few balk at meeting his steely gaze. His face is pocked with small scars as though something blew up in his face once, but it does little to detract from his appearance, simply giving him a grizzled look. When speaking his voice is deep, rough, gravely even. As he has gotten older he has thicked some from his earlier fighting shape, but still posesses enough muscle and power in his form to be an able combatant. When not in combat as has been the recent case he is more relaxed, informal and doesn’t care much for pomp and circumstance. He is quiet, and generally unassuming, and not given to a great deal of show, or flare. He is the man who has little time for whimsy or effluence, preferring to stay direct and simple, when he can.

Psychological Profile
Richard Cannon is a seasoned officer within Starfleet, able to mark his time before the Romulan War when Starfleet had a decidedly more exploration nature. He has proven to be a capable leader in many situations with an extensive service record. It was during the Romulan War that Joseph or Joe as he sometimes goes by among friends, suffered his greatest personal losses. It was a time of great personal challenges and he exhibited a violence of action and force of will that served him well, but made other captains wary of his methods at the time.

Since the Romulan War it seems that Joseph has taken a vigilant approach, seeking to keep his crew ready for any threat. These days he is a strong mix of concerned for his crews, loyal to those under his command, and doggedly determined in the face of opposition. He is cunning and capable, and is seasoned by age and experience. It is the belief of this counselor that Joseph Robertson is a vital fleet asset and a valued member of Starfleet’s services. With a bent of no-nonesense straightforwardness, a common man approach, his crews often find him open and approachable, across all levels. While he values his crew, he is not above sending a person into a suicide mission, putting the needs of the many first. Making the hard choices has left him at least a little self-cynical and perhaps a little bitter, as he is a man of conscience.
