T'Mara Michaels

Character Biography

T’Mara was orphaned while an infant when the ship carrying her parents crashed near a mining colony. She was the sole survivor of the crash. She was raised by a human couple, David and Joan Michaels. They gave her the name because it reflected her Vulcan heritage and had a human sound. When she was six terran years old, her human parents relocated to Earth and the question of who should raise her came to the attention of the Federation. The Vulcan representatives concluded that it T’Mara would have great difficulty adjusting to life on Vulcan and the Vulcan lifestyle. It was deemed illogical to separate her from her adoptive human “parents.” The net result was that throughout her childhood and youth, T’Mara was generally treated as something of an oddity; a rather strange human who looked like a Vulcan.

She had few genuine friends beyond a human girl from Louisiana named Rachel LeDoux and a morphite who happened to have the same last name, Lee Michaels. T’Mara took refuge in her studies where she excelled at Math and Science. While at the Academy she met a significant number of Vulcans who were generally supportive though also treated her as something of an outsider. It was at the Academy that T’Mara began her search for her Vulcan family.

Personality:

T’Mara struggles to maintain the image of being a Vulcan though, frequently, her “normal” human side comes through. She tends to be introverted and is most comfortable when engaged in her work. She has few friends but is fiercely loyal to the few she has. Her primary “recreational” activities are her studies and holodeck simulations of Vulcan.
